Description

iCircuit is the premier iPad and iPhone app for designing and experimenting with circuits and Arduinos. Its advanced simulation engine can handle both analog and digital circuits and features realtime always-on analysis. It is the perfect companion to students, hobbyists, and engineers.

You use it as you would any CAD program: you add elements, connect them together, and set their properties.

But iCircuit is unlike other CAD programs because it is always simulating. It's just like working with the real circuit. You do not stop to take a measurement or spend a lot of time configuring reports. Instead, you just play with the circuit as you normally would, with the power on!

There are over 300 elements you can use to build your circuits. The app has everything from a programmable Arduino, to simple resistors, to switches, to MOSFETS, to digital gates.

The app features a multimeter that you use to probe around the circuit to instantly read voltages and currents. If you want to see how a value changes over time, then you can add values to the built-in oscilloscope. The scope can simultaneously track many signals over time and features a touch interface to control the total time displayed and stacked and unstacked modes to easily compare signals. The scope can also display the Fourier transform of any signal so that you can see the performance of filters.

Supported elements include:

• Programmable Arduino using a subset of the C programming language
• Programmable PIC controllers using assembly language or hex files
• Signal generators, Voltage sources, Current sources, and Dependent sources
• Resistors, Capacitors, and Inductors
• Manual SPST/SPDT and DPST/DPDT Switches, Push buttons, and Relays
• LEDs, Diodes, BJ Transistors, and MOSFETs, Thermistors
• Triodes and tetrodes
• Audio simulation with Speakers, Microphones, Buzzers, and LEDs
• DC Motors and Servos
• ADCs, and DACs
• Logic gates: AND, OR, NAND, NOR, XOR
• JK and D Flip-flops
• 180 digital ICs from the 4000 and 7400 series
• 78xx and LM317 voltage regulators
• 7-segment and matrix displays
• Antenna with simulated AM and FM signals

You can also create sub circuits to introduce new elements and componentize your designs.

No matter your skill set, you'll be playing with circuits in no time with iCircuit.

Good app

nz scotty on

Would be a bonus if you could add a few different magnetic type sensors. It would help with using this app in the automotive industry

Easy to use

Super star power on

Very interactive and easy to use. Doesnt have the most functions in the world but for 15.00NZD/10USD it is pretty solid. The only way to improve now is to add more components...especially bidirectional capacitors. Very good app.😀

Good but not great

old greg gregson on

Roughy around the edges, is it worth the money?... Yes if you take it out of context of what apps should cost.

Very Good

Grubster999 on

Not perfect but very good. Works well and is intuitive to use. Have been using for 2 years. Good for quickly trying out things before getting out hardware. Well done and thanks.

It's good

WFleete on

The app works fine however there may be some glitches with the power calculation, tried a basic astable oscillator circuit and every so and often it would say the LED dissipates 5 or so gigawatt

Great but could be better

Snoopsterz4563 on

This is good for high school science students and electrical engineering students (like myself) but some questions that are sections of circuits can't be mapped in here which is a real let down, but closed circuits are great. The app also includes the ability to map gates. Absolutely amazing every physics / engineering student needs this.

Useless

Stevehall604 on

Half the components don't work, a simple transistor switch won't work, an scr is non latching, waste of money, very disappointed

Alright, but needs work

Coatesy262 on

This app Is great in principle but is lacking severely when it comes to user interaction. Wire paths have a mind of their own, components are hard to place and edit and some controls are counter intuitive. Not recommended for the smaller screens of iPhones/iPods. Definitely could be a great app but it is a long way from that now and not worth the price as it stands now.

Promising, not polished

Mirandashandy on

This application has a lot of merit but is exceedingly rough around the edges. Wires that develop crazy links when linking components, full screen meter that cannot be closed, iOS keyboard hiding fields that are being edited, odd "I wonder what these do" buttons, etc. This looks like an app poorly ported to iOS by people who don't understand basic accessibility or visual design, and could do with an overhaul by a user interaction expert. All of this being said, the general concept is great. Just not worth what it's currently being sold for.

Confusing

Freezion on

Nice app but could do with a better guide to understand how to work the program better.
