Perplexed …

SvensterK on

Hadn’t opened this app since, well couldn’t remember when. I saw that it was updated yesterday. Today I launched it and selected my Eve Sensor and something very weird started happening. Things started turning on and off repeatedly. At first I thought it was a brownout because appliances came back on with in a second or two. I could hear the Smart Switches clicking on and off and other appliances shutting off and starting up. But then I noticed not everything was turning on and off. Only one side of the room. So it wasn’t a brownout. Was it was coincidental that it happened the second I touched the Eve icon? I don’t know. So I tapped the Eve icon again and the switching stopped. I think. I tapped the icon again and the icon opened and that side of the room started to power cycle again...! This freaked me out a bit so I shut down the app and everything went back to normal. I have never had anything like this happen before. I’ve been using “smart” apps and Devices since 2016. I’ve had a few gateways play up and stop working indeed I have a Netvox Gateway that started malfunctioning a few weeks ago but it’s a closed system and those devices were not involved. This appeared to be another (ZigBee) Gateway but I can’t be sure, it only lasted maybe 15 seconds before I shut the app down and everything went back to normal. It freaked me out quite a bit. It’s Electricty we are dealing with here and when things start to flash on and off you get concerned about a number of possibilities as to the cause. There was no smoke, fire or even smell and everything went back to normal after this app was shutdown. I’m reluctant to launch it again. I’m not interested in problem solving it. I suspect there is a conflict with some aspect of Controllers over Devices. What normally happens is that an App will tell you if it has control over a device or hub and if it hasn’t got control it will ask you to allow it to take control. In this instance the only plausible explanation I can think of is that this app has begun an arm wrestle with another controller to try and take control of a gateway or devices causing the devices state to conflict with one turning them on and another turning them off. But I don’t know. I don’t want to test this hypothesis, I have enough chaos in my life with out the appliances going berserk around me. My Smart Home has never become a Crazy Home before today. And I don’t like it. I post this only to see if anyone else has experienced this

Good try but not useable yet

Very nice app! Love that it shows both temperature and humidity from a single sensor together. All other app I tried show them separately Default pictures for rooms and devices are WEIRD and simply awful. And no way to use icons, only photos. What’s the point of using a photo in a tiny circle/square? It’s not recognisable anyway. I tried to use some generic images but it’s just impossible to get the right size! Watch App shows all temperatures briefly in C° then reverts to F°. Phone app shows correctly in C° Please add a library of generic icons such thermo/hydro sensor, switch, motion sensor etc and also similar library for room types Make sensor readings bigger Fix incorrect units in watch app Then it will be a great app deserving 5 stars! Update: Watch app is not working basically. It opens empty. It showed data once after I restarted my watch (so I was able to see temperature units bug) but then it crashed when I touched my Homebridge “hub” and has never showed any data since

Connection problems

A great ap when you can get it to connect !!! Very hit and miss with Bluetooth connection some days it will connect up straight away and other days like today you just have to walk away and accept the fact that no matter what you do it just isn't going to connect eventually got it to work now with latest up date can't find igrill

Sellout coconut dogs

How do you sell a product, then offload it for mega-bucks and screw overrated everyone who helped get you there!!??

Love the concept but...

Love the idea of the iGrill Mini. Unfortunately the UI is embedded in a catalogue of iDevices products. That's not so bad once you get where you want to go. When I went out of range of the Bluetooth due to a physical barrier rather than due to distance I found myself stuck in an endless loop of all the other great products. Would have been nicer to have a simple "no device found" message. Update please.

Great app but this needs to have the glances option on the Apple Watch for the Igrill application

Abysmal

wilsoninc on

truly terrible app. rather than try to sell other devices, the focus should be on helping users with an existing device to do what's needed as easily as possible. instead, it's a wild goose chase trying to find the elusive link that allows you to find and set the target temperature for the meat you've got in front of you. start again app developers, and think of your users...

Could be great. If the App ever downloads.

Apps normally take like seconds or perhaps two minutes to download. Fifty minutes with hi speed connection and still going😩 I hope igrill is good, if their app ever downloads!

Excellent Product

I love this app and the thermometers that came with it, very easy to use and work extremely well for baked meats. The ambient temperature probe is far more accurate than the temp. gauge in the hood of my barbeque when smoking or slow roasting, an extremely useful little extra. There was some problem with the probes that I originally got, not that I could notice, but they contacted me with a recall notice and sent me new probes at no cost not even postage, really good product back up.

No Landscape mode

CaramonMajere on

App doesn't change orientation from portrait to landscape. This is a real issue because I usually cook low and slow for 8 hours + and can't plug my device in without turning device on the side or upside down.
