This is the app for guitar, bass, and strings players who need realistic woodwind instrument sounds for recording or live performance.
iFretless responds naturally to the the finger movements strings players use for vibrato and sliding between pitches. Using those techniques, the app gives a more believable, natural imitation of woodwind sounds than traditional keyboard based synth interfaces.
It also supports midi input from EWI MIDI controller devices and keyboard MIDI controllers.
SOUNDS IN THE APP

iFretless Sax FAQ
Is iFretless Sax free?
iFretless Sax is not free (it costs 9.99), however it doesn't contain in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Is iFretless Sax legit?
🤔 The iFretless Sax app's quality is mixed. Some users are satisfied, while others report issues. Consider reading individual reviews for more context.
Could be a nice app, but the “user support” is a real nightmare.
One of the last updates messed up the app completely: audio output of the device will be muted as soon as you start this app. Only a restart of the device will bring audio output back.
I have contacted the support and asked them to fix this. They didn’t even bother to apologize and told me straight away that they will not fix it for some (obviously made up) reasons. End of discussion.
This is the most rude and unprofessional “support” I have ever encountered.
Update: unlike the statement of the developer suggests, this was not about “an iOS version from three years back”, but a nearly current version (at that time), that I had to stay on for a couple of reasons. I still think that you shouldn’t ship updates that you haven’t tested. AND you shouldn’t respond rudely to a customer who asks you to fix your mistake.
Great and cheap way to get a sax on the iPad
The new version works with wind controllers such as an EWI now - this is great news! By far the cheapest way to play a virtual sax on a mobile platform. Great to play around with. Fast developer response.
nichts wahres
Toll
Weiter so, Danke.
Sounds great...
But the note “sliding” is the biggest downside of the app. Real saxophones aren’t trombones and one can not perform a legato on them. The app “Sensual Sax” treats these transitions more realistically, but each of these apps have their positives. Would just like to have more realistic note transitions available here. Thanks!
Error in soprano and baritone
This version seem to have bugs in the two instruments!
The clarinet and alto are really good if you tweak it for your controller.
Please fix the other instruments and test them with a wind controller like the Akai EWI 4000s.
Getting so much better all the time
As of 20191010: I really had not found much use for earlier versions of iFretless Sax, but, that may be changing for the better with this new update. The new presets I've sampled so far sound good for the kind of long-play generative noises I like to make. That said, I should also remark that I have been enjoying the other iFretless instruments for a good while now. I am tempted to boost this from 4 to 5 stars, but, I guess I'll run it for a few more days first (hopefully I won't forget to boost it). It is hard to make blanket recommendations for sophisticated software like iFretless as the apps can be used in different ways by people with different needs and skill sets.... The instrument apps (the only type from Mani I own) seem to consistently improve over time.
Are These Other Apps Getting Updates?
Please?!
Awesome instrument that could use...
The option to included subtle fret noises and squeaks for the bass and guitar apps...for this app, they could add the option for the sounds and clicks of pressing the buttons (but I wouldn’t need it...however, light fret noises and squeaks during slides help to add that feeling of hands having relation to strings for the iFretless bass and guitar...please add)😄
