I have been searching for an app to be able to catalog the inventory of my creator workshop. There have been som many times that I wanted to make something and I knew that I “should” have all the pieces to make the item, yet I didn’t know where those pieces were in my workshop. Or I was out on a film set an needed a tool or item, knew I had the item or tool, but did not know which of the 15 bags or boxes that I brought the item or tool was located. This app has given me a way to look through my workshop and various boxes and bags for any item at the click of a button. I use the app on a daily basis and find that I am more organized by using it. Also, I have used the technical support and they are phenomenal!
I love this app and I have had it for over a year with no problems. I sent an email to their support team this week because the pictures associated with my receipts were showing as black screens. I received a reply and solution the same day I sent it! Thank you so much Steve!
I truly want to like itemtopia, but their premium version only allows up to 3000 items. Even if they upgrade it later and give you 4 GB instead of two, it’s simply not enough if you truly use this for everything in your home. I pin collection alone is several thousand pins. The overall interface looks like it’s customizable, but many features you cannot try until you have a pro account, so you cannot get a full test drive. Also, it is a bit deceiving at $50 for the first year and 79 for the second year and on. Overall, the goal is for the program is to truly be able to document everything in your home, take pictures of everything you have, every book, every painting, every item for your collection, etc., along with receipts, that takes up quite some space. I like having in the cloud as it would be available on all my devices, but simply it’s just enough room. If you use similar software like Under My Roof, you could at least store it in your iCloud, and then you would not be limited by their space constraints. That does have some downsides, though, you are stuck to Apple devices, which is fine for me now, but not sure if that would always be the case 10 years from now. So the two main frustrations are the inability to see all of the features without paying for premium, and also just how limited you are. Remove the maximum number of items and storage or provide an option to use iCloud storage. Buy if you did the second, you would need to reduce the cost since you would not be paying for storage and bandwidth.
The “update” jumbled up my previous setup. It’s buggy, I currently can’t click on anything. Pretty bad lag when it does work. The system has a lot of options for customization but there is such a thing as too much, links just complicate things too much. Ended up canceling my service.
What’s the like about this app; however, within half an hour of setting up my home inventory it became clear this app was not feasible to use without paying for premium access. I did. Unfortunately, in my second day of use, the premium wasn’t showing, and I was limited to free app features. I logged out and back in then Premium was there. Yay! However, as I continued working every time I went away to do something else, the app reverted back to free version. This is painful to use. I’m being generous with three stars.
