Japanese Reviews

One of The Best

Jack 501 on

This Japanese-English dictionary has everything you could ask for: hiragana readings, conjugation, kanji radical breakdowns, kanji stroke order, customizable vocabulary lists, and so much more. Very thorough dictionary. Highly recommended.

Used it for years.

I love this app especially compared to Jisho. Jisho is awesome but I find this app easier to use and has nice flashcards. I reccomend it to every Japanese learner who wants to learn on the go.

A gem

One of the best language dictionary out there. I hope it will always be updated and available.

Reliable and Accurate

I’ve been using this app for a few years now. No bugs no crashes. The word descriptions are similar to Jisho.org which is pretty nice. The drawing mechanic could be better but I rarely use it at all. Overall the app is intuitive and great as a pocket dictionary.

What Duolingo wishes it was.

Exactly what it says it is? Check. No ADs? Check. Japanese? Studied. You downloaded yet? Not yet. What are you waiting for?

Must have for beginner or advanced Japanese learners

This app is so useful. As an advanced learner, I use it every day to look up words and kanji readings. It keeps a list of words you searched, so you can use that as a basis for study. And it’s free!

Great app but wish it had better handwriting recognition

JStrutz84 on

I love this app and use it as my main dictionary. I especially like studying word lists. However, my only gripe is that the handwriting recognition tool to look up kanji is not quite as good as some other apps (like Nihongo). I do like the SKIP option though which helps when it can’t recognize my handwriting.

One New Feature PLEASE

I love love love this app as a dictionary, reference book and more. I only wish that it kept a short log of past searches so that I can access them quickly! Everything else is more than perfect!

I’ve been using this app since 2016 and I still use it daily. Its feature for searching for kanji via drawing or by radicals has been very useful. I recommend it for anyone studying Japanese
