July 4 update

mskFish on

United States

Since the update today, I’ve played one real person, whose game is not listed in the tower, and two training games. The levels (quality of play, not posted levels) of my training opponents seems to have been at least cut in half since before the update. Only one of the training games appears in the tower. One of the prime reasons for using this app is the analysis of the games and now this seems to be mostly taken away. *** Earlier review The puzzles would be greatly improved if we could go back to all of them, not just those in the current level. The biggest help in learning would be boss puzzles that didn’t disappear. How are we supposed to understand what they are about when they vanish the second they solved? The main site does this so well. It’s terribly inconsistent in how many attempts it gives you in boss mode. I had 5 more to go and was put back to 10 after one failed attempt, when all along it had been giving me three attempts. That’s unfair.

Crashes constantly

It didn’t crash back months ago and prior but won’t even launch now. Too few levels as others have said.. great promise but failed execution.

On Chess.com, its a loss, on this app, its just... confusing

Camkachu on

United States

Today I was playing the new app and I have experienced a problem, when I was waiting for my opponent to move (which took so long) the time switched, then after a couple of minutes, I lost. I said to myself, "How?! I was waiting for my opponent!" Since I knew it was connected to my Chess.com account, I went to the Chess.com app and looked into my profile and saw a loss, I checked the game I played and then what I saw was that I lost because of time. It's ok but, I think that should be fixed.

Didn’t know chess.com ratings were impacted

I downloaded the app and played a few silly games…and list a bunch of elo. Didn’t realize that was my actual chess.com rating score that was on the line. That’s pretty bogus, I wouldn’t have played such silly games if I knew that. They should tell you more clearly. And I wish my elo could be restored.

Looking forward to more!

I thought there was a bug that was preventing me from being able to unlock a number of items through the store. It turns out that it wasn’t a bug and you have to unlock them by completing puzzles. When I contacted support they didn’t explain this and merely said “there are no bugs”. Hopefully things like that will be sorted out in future updates. It looks like they had to simplify the game in order to release early.

Amazing concept, joy fades pretty fast

Sgodtoh on

I’ve been playing against the AI computers for practice since I love the knight theme but during every match I find I’m just getting mad at the emojis popping up on the top half the screen. It makes sense for online play with people but this kind of childish nonsense should stay on Roblox or Clash of Clans, especially against computer. I lost a piece and it popped up a crybaby emoji, so app closed for now. The pathway missions seem like an amazing way to learn chess technique but the story is a short repeated loop and if you make a wrong move, your little dude has a hissy fit and you have to wait for all the animations to finish to try again. I wouldn’t mind so much if the boss levels (10 levels in 3 lives) didn’t randomize when you retried. Feel liked I’d learn more if I start to recognize the ones I beat. To be fair I did reach out to the team when the game counted a win as a loss, and they seem to be amazing and friendly people working on this game. I just wish there was a way to tone down the annoying ‘quirky’ things a bit.

Loss of Elo

itsAlu on

United States

Why does this game force me to bet gold on playing against an opponent and makes me lose my Chess.com elo without notifying me that I’m playing a real opponent?

This game is bad

dajian888 on

This game is bad because it is less acurrate even though more fun .If you are trying to learn chess very fast this might not be so good for you.
