Latin Lexicon Dictionary Reviews

Great App for the Price

Hura on

Australia

This is a good Latin-English dictionary app based on the corresponding Wiktionary content. The great thing is that it gives complete conjugations of verbs and declensions of nouns, pronouns and adjectives. It makes full use of macrons to indicate vowel length. It often gives useful additional material such as etymology, usage examples, related words in Latin, and descendant words in other languages. It has now been upgraded to run on iOS11; hopefully the previous problem with intermittent freezes requiring reinstallation of the app will be a thing of the past. The interface has been significantly improved with handy controls over font and font size, and importantly, a useful new Deep Search function which finds all headwords beginning with the search string. The only caveat is that there are some errors in the Wiktionary source material, so it is wise to be alert.

Majorly flawed

This app is great and as a student of Classical Latin I enjoy having this app but whenever I open it Te screen freezes and I cannot access the dictionary. I love the app when it works but overall was a waste of money.

Errors all over the place

Frutizebra on

Australia

For such a price, it's a good dictionary, very convenient. But we need to be careful when using it. I found a mistake in it just the second day after I bought it. After using it for a while, I found many more errors! It's unacceptable for a dictionary.

Very comprehensive and helpful for Latin students of all ages

Old Phart (63) on

The huge value of this dictionary is that it also declines the declinable and conjugates all verbs. It includes declensions that school texts and grammar books omit, forms that occur in Unseens and are frequently required for English to Latin translations. But unfortunately in the best of all worlds nothing is perfect. Declension charts reflect the American order of cases, whereas outside America we still work from the NVAGDA order of cases. A version that reflects this order would be much appreciated. However this app is still a must have for Latin students because it teaches as you use it! No more guessing; if you can read a chart and understand it then it is the Latin App for you.

For the price it's a great dictionary to have. Very good to have sitting in class, and helps put all the way words change in tense and declension right in front of you. Saves flipping through the text book

Very handy

This is a great mobile aid to have for quick reference.

Pretty good

I dont feel the search is tense sensitive, and searches by default verb and noun... I use this to help in my studies, and feel it could be better
