I absolutely love LingQ—it’s the best language learning app out there! I’ve been using it for several languages, including Chinese, French, Spanish, Indonesian, and more, and it has truly transformed the way I learn and engage with languages. What sets LingQ apart is its unique approach. Instead of traditional grammar drills and vocabulary flashcards, the app immerses you in real, authentic content that you can customise to your level and interests. From articles and podcasts to audiobooks and user-generated lessons, LingQ makes language learning enjoyable and engaging. Some of my favourite features include: • Customised Reading & Listening: I can import my own materials, such as books and articles, and use the built-in dictionary to learn words as I read. It’s perfect for Chinese, as I can focus on tone practice and vocabulary in context. • Built-in Audio Player: The ability to listen to audio while following along with text is a game-changer. I use this a lot for French and Spanish audiobooks, improving both my comprehension and pronunciation. • Progress Tracking: The app gives detailed stats on how many words I’ve learned and how much time I’ve spent learning. It’s motivating to see tangible progress over time. • Cross-Device Syncing: Whether I’m on my phone, tablet, or computer, LingQ keeps everything synced seamlessly. The app also excels with languages like Indonesian, where it’s hard to find quality learning materials. I’ve been able to import books and articles, then practice listening and comprehension with the text-to-speech feature. LingQ’s approach fosters genuine learning habits, helping you develop fluency by reading and listening to content that interests you. It’s perfect for anyone serious about language learning. Highly recommend it to learners of all levels and languages!
It would be great if on the vocabulary flashcards, you included an example sentence (in Chinese) with an attached translation.
Without paying you can barely learn anything
This is my second year subscribing to the app and I’m still finding it helpful in my language learning journey. I highly recommend this app.
LingQ is hands down the best app for language learning! I’ve tried many apps over the years, but nothing comes close to the effectiveness and versatility of LingQ. It’s become a daily part of my routine and is responsible for all the progress I’ve made in my target language. The extensive library of content is fantastic, with real-world materials that keep learning engaging and practical. The ability to import your own content makes it even better, allowing you to learn through topics you genuinely care about. I love how LingQ helps me build vocabulary in context, not just with rote memorization, and the spaced repetition system ensures I retain what I learn. It’s a well-designed app that adapts to my pace and keeps me motivated to improve every day. If you’re serious about language learning, LingQ is a must-have. It’s an investment in your success, and the results speak for themselves!
I recommend this app to everyone as the best language learning app available. It does have its faults - the transcription isn’t very good for the content I upload (especially québécois content). But that is still outweighed by the benefits of this app for language learning.
Brilliantly linked text, definitions and audio. Very useful to be able to upload bespoke content. Makes incidental learning (eg while travelling) thoroughly convenient.
I use LingQ everyday to read and listen to my target language and review vocabulary. I find it motivating and easy to use. It’s definitely helping me learn the language.
I like this program, however it could do with some adjustments in the Persian program, for example not duplicating LingQs for texts with vowel markers. It also struggles with this language due to how many modifying prefixes and suffixes there are.
