Description

Want to store custom locations? mapPoints will store all of your favorite locations in one spot. This app is great for traveling, if you would like to store your locations and take a snapshot of where you were. It is also great for hunting or fishing or any activity that a specific coordinate is needed. There are four ways you can store your location -
1. Your current location.
2. You can enter an address.
3. You can store a custom latitude and longitude coordinate.
4. You can drop a pin on the map where ever you would like.
The location information is all editable after you store it.
There is an option to draw lines between the map location displayed on the map. You can draw a line between all of the locations in the order selected including the user location. You can draw a line from the user location to the last location selected. You can draw a line form the user location to the first location selected. And you can draw a line between all of the points excluding the user location. This last option is handy when trying to compute distance on a map. When drawing any lines on the map, the distance is displayed in the lower right corner of the screen.
There is a meter on the main page that measures the accuracy of the GPS signal.
You can display your heading and altitude on the main page as an option.

Map Points Reviews

What a great little app!

I’ve beta tested for this developer in the past (GPS Tracks) in fact I often used that app to do exactly what this does, only this is much simpler. Don’t expect it to do anywhere near what that app will do, but this is perfect for a quick position store plus you can copy and paste your coords into any decent navigation app of your choice. For three bucks!! As for quality I really didn’t need to dig deep, anything from this developer will be first class.

Good but could be better

Does a good job of locating. However every time the app opens it turns off all the previous pin drops. Also no way to extract info for use in other programs or apps.

Terrible app

App is misleading in a since you can't search by address and then map them in a direction as if you where using a gps. Not worth anything to me.

Works for me!

I was looking for a simple app that could give me the GPS coordinates for any location. This app is it. There is a small black cursor fixed at the center of the screen and you can drag the map to whatever location you want. Click the arrow button in the left corner and it will automatically drop a pin and tell you the coordinates. You can save the location with a custom name, and you can even add notes to describe the location. You can also categorize saved locations into groups, such as restaurants or camping sites, etc. The best part (and the whole reason I got the app) is that I can copy and paste the coordinates into the google maps app and then save the location in google maps.

Hmmmm...

Maybe it's because I need to get more adjusted to the app, but this doesn't seem to make sense. I put an app in and it doesn't recognize it. It reads 0,-0 as my lat/long

Bad App

This app is difficult to use and takes too long to download directions. Nothing like the program on my laptop. Refund... I would not use this again, good thing it was only $.99

Can't search by address?

Litl Let on

How can you have a GPS program that doesn't have the capabilities to search for an address? I know where I am...I want to know where that is! Waste of my 99 cents!

Waste of money

MadMegNW on

I entered the location manually. Not only did it show the zoo as being in the middle of the ocean, there was no way to go to it on the map without manually zooming out then back in. Completely non-intuitive. I hate this app so much, I actually want my money back.

Pre installed iPhone Map App is better than MapPoint

Fan333 on

United States

MapPoint functions well and provides useful naming and note feature, but is otherwise lacking important and efficient features provided by the free Map App that comes with the iphone. Overall, the pre installed iPhones Map App is more useful for bookmarking and retrieving saved waypoints/ locations.

Maps outdated

squire330 on

Doesn't have many streets that can be found on Google and Garmin GPS.
