Mem - AI Notes, Search & Chat

Was looking for a place to store and synthesize my ideas. Using it has sparked new ideas and helped me deepen others. Haven’t even leveraged the AI functionality yet!

Mem cannot read the notes I shared with it, I can’t ask any questions about my notes. I can search just fine, but I was really hoping to leverage this AI to collaborate with me across notes I share with it so I could find key insights.

Downloaded this app for the singlar purpose of sharing a note with other people. You can search for people to share with, but no one appears and there is no way to invite like the help articles say. Useless.

This app is about as buggy as it was a 18 months ago when I first started using it. Today I tried clicking into the categories section on a new note and it just wouldn't let me add anything. And when the categories functionality does work, it will often suggest starting a new category for an already existing category. Also, the new -- currently optional -- web interface doesn't seem like a direction I'm interested in (e.g., eliminating the Inbox and templates). And finally, the ai search function is maybe a little too powerful in that it churns up all kinds of hits that just aren't relevant. On the other hand, the simplicity of the layout is one of my favorites among notes apps and is what attracted me to Mem in the first place.

Love this app so much . Once you start using it ,I promise it’ll be hard to go back to another app . Imagine having a vague memory of a note taken or maybe a Readwise highlight ? The chat will find it . Even better is the smart write feature . I wish that “/“ smart write was added into mobile ! I come from using roam and obsidian . This is so much more intuitive . I hope they stay true to road map and add pdf , pictures , and recorded audio !

I try A LOT of note apps. I’ve self hosted, and focused on inexpensive / privacy focused options. I gave this a shot hoping to hate it and dismiss it given it’s pricing ($99/yr !!!!). I already have enough cheaper with higher note portability. But man, that contextual search is amazing. Amazing. It’s helping me reconnect with thoughts I’ve had a long time ago and that I can further hash out and develop. Kudos to the team. 👏Great app.

Cannot cancel my account. The “CONFIRM” that you are supposed to type in to confirm deleting the account does not, conveniently, accept your input and the account stays active, thereby continuing to charge you monthly. Obviously, a HUGE problem.

Please add folders. It looks messy like this and I find myself hating the lack of folders to organize and sort notes. Please. Thank you so much!

I started using Mem AI recently and loved it. Was using the free plan and had switched from Apple notes over to this. As I was using it I watched as important notes just disappeared. Not in trash, no trace of important items that I trusted the app to keep. Reliability is paramount for a note taking app and this has failed tremendously. I spent an hour going through tutorial and helps articles trying to see if there was any way to recover. The worst thing is I watched the notes disappear, it’s not like I left the app and came back. It happened while I was switching between notes.

Yeah, when the app launched it didn’t have all of the features in place on the iOS version but they have continued to make it better and better so I would recommend checking it out for sure and not being dissuaded by the 2.7 out of five
