Tested most GPS navigation app

duke3514 on

I rely solely on digital navigation for the past 10 years and have tested most applications available in Australia. Memory maps fall is still the best and most reliable out there. Not subscription, based and together with the Hema map pack, it is very fairly priced.

Good, solid app

The app is working well and meeting all my expectations

First use planning a trip

Fortuner Driver on

Best ever user experience and cross-device updating of tracks and POIs is excellent and easy. Good so far and paid for Hema Australia maps and Hema VHC maps. Not the cheapest way to add maps but great trip planner. Still I also rate Avenza maps and the free NSW maps with great detail and even met NSW Park Rangers that use Avenza maps day to day…. MMfa is easier for trip planning though.

Overall The Best I’ve Used

Shoogeee on

Used Hema, BillyGoat, ExplorOz and several other GPS type apps targeted to Cycling and MMfA certainly has the least downsides. Nothing will every be perfect as it not possible to roll all the different products best features into a single product. Just about to use MMfA as the primary mapping/logging app on a long road trip and am expecting a positive experience. Agree with one of the comments that being able to orientate the map in direct of travel, whilst sort of being contrary to the use of a “Map”, would be nice

Brilliant for the price.

I wish I could give it 4.75 stars. The app is great and in Australia I’m using our best maps - the “Topos” for four wheel driving. The missing 0.25 star would be the difficulty in closing the app on the iPhone. Swiping up pans the map rather than close it and it takes a few tries to close it. Also, what would make this app a monster: - Ability to automatically pan the map as the car moves. Not a huge issue. - Make it a Apple Play compatible to use on the vehicle screen.

Good solid nav app

Been using for about 6 months now and I’m very happy with the app. A few things I’d like to see in future updates is being able to customise bulk waypoints when importing from 1 file or even from within overlay list. It’s kind of annoying having to individually customise waypoint colours and icon styles. Also there really needs to be a course heading up feature, it can get quite confusing when driving. A built in POI overlay lost would be good to.

Good app

Memory map is a solid useful program that we are still learning to use all of the features. My partner is very frustrated that you don’t seem to be able to get the map to orientate to the direction of travel rather than N at the top. It would be good to be able to control the font size to make reading of the map names easier. Used it on Cape York for three weeks with the Hema maps.

My most used GPS navigation app

Great app, very reliable together with older Hema Maps packs this works very well. tracking, multiple independent screens with different maps are a game changer. Could improve search POI db and more icons for POI

Time for some more icon options. I’m a long distance hiker so icons like “food drop” “water source” “trailhead” “campsite” “lodging” would be great. And would be good to get detailed maps of SA and NT in Australia.

Liking the new features

Sleepless:-) on

Great improvement on old app, like the altitude profile and estimated route time etc. Cloud sync from old app overlays quick and easy. Top work! Would like a few more mark icon options, tree, steps, view, impassable, climb (ie hands required), rope, pool, drinking water etc
