Metro Bike Share FAQ
Is Metro Bike Share free?
Yes, Metro Bike Share is completely free and it doesn't have any in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Is Metro Bike Share legit?
⚠️ Warning: Multiple users of Metro Bike Share have mentioned scam or fraud. Investigate thoroughly before using this app.
I and my son were visiting LA, and got wanted to explore the city without paying a lot for micro mobility options, after spending $16 for 10 minutes of riding 2 Lyme scooters.
We have discovered Metro City Bikes offering full day of riding option for only $5 per bike!
We rode for 20+ miles around the area and saw a bunch of places using e-bike models which were great for going uphill.
Using the app is straightforward, phone number + CC/ApplePay is sufficient to register and start riding in a few minutes.
Finally returning the bikes to a station and locking them we realized our trips were not ending due to the station being offline. That required a tech support ticket communication, with the picture proof of our returns to get unlocked virtually out of the prior trip. Tech Support was quick to communicate and resolve the issue, but I wish there were less duplicate emails being sent by the system.
Ideally there should be more e-bikes available, and also knowing the battery status through the app would eliminate depleted battery surprises if need to cover many miles.
Electric
This is an amazing city service but needs more electric bikes rather than manual bikes due to hills
Scammers
in Earth Day they said the road is gonna be free for 30 minutes. I took the bike for 15 minutes or 14 something like that and they charged me for the whole trip and they was even asking me and they return the bike before the time ends by 5
Charged 4.5$ for not using it.
I used it the day before yesterday bought 5$ pass, used 75 minutes in total, today they changed me 4.5$more for no reason. I need my money back,do not link your bank account to these apps.
TAP integration STILL broken
Metro Bike Share does not work with TAP accounts. Wasted my time loading a tap card and trying to log in only to give up and being out a decent amount of money.
Why did I get charged a “usage fee”
?!??!
Good if you only need one trip
Bike will regularly not register as returned - which support will eventually fix but it could take up to a few hours. You can’t unlock a new bike until they fix the problem so if you were planning to take one home, now you’re stranded. Phone number for support doesn’t actually connect you to anyone and the email doesn’t even work.
Glitches
It works at times but sometimes I can’t renew it. The page doesn’t load.
Not connecting with Tap card
Unable to connect to Tap card in my phone’s wallet. Trying to login to my Tap account via Metro Bike app and it is unable to process. The mobile web age redirects to the app. Seems like there’s no way to move past this bug, please fix. You can easily buy a short term pass but I don’t want to do this since I have a Tap card already.
