Microsoft Translator Reviews

No Offline Languages

Info from 6 years ago says could download language packs then, but on current app there is no option and extremely conflicting info as to whether should be able to or not.

Getting better 👍

fat_lizard on

Australia

Getting better, and my primary translation app. Now that it has local (downloaded) languages available it’s much better than previously. I’ve used it for both Chinese and Thai, and asked native speakers if this app’s translations are better than the Google translation app. In both instances they said that this app does a better translation. Well done Microsoft. 👍 Personally I think it would be better to have the target language above the source language. I think the previous version the translation order was target above the source. Suggestions for improvement: • Change the order of copied translations back so that the target language is on top. • Change the speed of the text-to-speech. • Highlight the translated words or characters as the text-to-speech plays. For an excellent example of both of these, have a look at the Pleco Chinese app. • Respond to reviews.

Cuts off the sentence

Panda ganda on

Australia

When I press to hear the translation it gives me a correct version initially when I want to hear it again it chops off the first few words and only gives you the last few words and it sounds so rude. For example if you ask for a translation “can I please have a drink of water ?”English to Italian, it says “have a drink of water”. How can you fix this?

Translation through image

Image translation is laughable from Thai to English. Just brings up nonsense.

History cleaning

Kangaroosam m2727 on

Past 1 year i hav been trying 10 different translator. Even the paid ones not good as this one. Best i ever used. Turkish to English and English to Turkish 100% accurate. Also recordings from Chinese to english is best i ever used. The only problem I could not find clear history button. I am assuming there isn't any. The annoying and time wasting bit is, clearing history one by one…

Issue with writing Chinese characters

byteboi on

Australia

I’ve been using this for a long time and have found it very useful until recently when I discovered I couldn’t write Chinese characters at all as every stroke I made on the screen just disappeared so I couldn’t form any words! Trying to translate Chinese to English.. what gives?!

Update is awful

Rock⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ on

Australia

It’s super clunky Why does it store each translation -it’s unnecessary No bulk delete is dumb

Interface is awful

tjh888 on

Australia

How do you quickly swap the direction of the translation? Everything seems so clunky. Deleting soon.

Multiple Deletes

MultiLateral on

Australia

Great app but hard to use as it badly needs a multiple delete (or a Delete All) function. It is very laborious and time consuming to have to individually delete each translated sentence or word.

Clear History

farawayfulhamfan on

Australia

The update has removed the Clear History feature. Now you have to delete each line one by one. Very tiresome. A simple Clear All History would be helpful
