Microsoft Translator Reviews
Switched from Google, but needs work.
Some odd quirks.
I tried translating some English into both Chinese and Thai, and I also tried the three different view ‘panes’.
When using the left-view there is no convenient method of copying the translation. If I then switch to the middle view nothing is displayed unless I repeat the translation. Finally, in the right-view the original source and translation are displayed.
In any viewing mode there is no convenient Paste option when there is source text in the clipboard (something a major competitor has).
When using the previous version and I copied the translation it had the target language at the top.
In this version when the translation is copied the target translation is *below the English.
• This is quite counter intuitive.
Suggestions for improvement:
• Obviously off-line language packs should be a priority, particularly when a major competing translation app provides off-line functionality.
• Change the order of copied translations back so that the target language is on top.
• Change the speed of the text-to-speech.
• Highlight the translated words or characters as the text-to-speech plays. For an excellent example of both of these, have a look at the Pleco Chinese app.
• Respond to user reviews/concerns.
Translation through image
Image translation is laughable from Thai to English. Just brings up nonsense.
History cleaning
Past 1 year i hav been trying 10 different translator. Even the paid ones not good as this one. Best i ever used. Turkish to English and English to Turkish 100% accurate. Also recordings from Chinese to english is best i ever used.
The only problem I could not find clear history button. I am assuming there isn't any.
The annoying and time wasting bit is, clearing history one by one…
Issue with writing Chinese characters
I’ve been using this for a long time and have found it very useful until recently when I discovered I couldn’t write Chinese characters at all as every stroke I made on the screen just disappeared so I couldn’t form any words! Trying to translate Chinese to English.. what gives?!
Update is awful
It’s super clunky
Why does it store each translation -it’s unnecessary
No bulk delete is dumb
Interface is awful
How do you quickly swap the direction of the translation? Everything seems so clunky. Deleting soon.
Multiple Deletes
Great app but hard to use as it badly needs a multiple delete (or a Delete All) function. It is very laborious and time consuming to have to individually delete each translated sentence or word.
Clear History
The update has removed the Clear History feature. Now you have to delete each line one by one. Very tiresome. A simple Clear All History would be helpful
Most accurate
Most accurate of all translation apps. Great interface as well.
Getting ahead of Gxxxxxx
