MinuteTaker Reviews

General

The app is fantastic as it is simple to use. I have generated hundreds of meeting minutes with this app and will continue to use it as it is so easy to record and issue professional notes of meetings. Now in 2018 and still using the app. Very user friendly and a great tool for a busy minute taker. I like the participant update in the latest release. Good to see that more functionality is being added all the time. Great news I can now bold text items.

Fantastic App

I love this app. I especially like the way the different minutes can be organized like ‘books’. Some desired upgrades: it should be possible to format text. It should be possible to email whole ‘folders’/ ‘documents’ not only individual minutes.

EXCELLENT

This app has proved invaluable since December 2014, my first minute taking project. It just works. No fuss or mess. It's simple, laid out nicely and the creation of PDF files directly within the app and automatically creating the 'send to' list for all attendees is a nice touch.

Good once you get used to it

This is a good tool for taking minutes. It covers pretty much everything you need. It would be brilliant if you could import documents from minute taker rather than sending it from the other app, but this isn't too bad once you get used to that. It would also be really useful if you could save/export the final document in word format. Another thing to add to the wish list would be to be able to add sub-items to a minute item. The advantage would be that you could then have a main item like "Other Business" then list sub-items in it which can be assigned responsibilities and due dates individually These are my reasons for not giving it 5 stars but if you do take minutes for meetings, this is still a very good app for the task.

Idea is good but underdeveloped for £7.99

I like the idea and the simplicity of the app ...but it has few major faults: 1. It does not back up to iCloud or anywhere else 2. There is no support for the app, App support directs you to the company's website but the support is only provided for their other product. 3. You cannot import or select the meeting from your calendar: a. you have to manually retype the meeting headline, date, time an place b. you have to manually type in attendees, app only access your personal contact list. 4. Doesn't have automatic start/finish clock. I would love my money back but cannot contact the developer ...

Functional but cofusing

I (as everybody else in the world) is looking towards using their ipad as a replacement for the notepads. I have many that I take to meetings and wish to save time by entering notes into an application to save time afterwards. Minutetaker seemed to be the answer for me. Whilst the application is functional and does go some of the way to fulfill my requirements its not really there yet. The biggest issue for me is that the interface is too confusing and gets in the way of productivity. I spend too much time trying to organise what I am entering that is starts to become a hindrance...I only wish that this app would be updated to fix this but there seems to be no updates coming.

I find this a great app for recording meeting minutes and setting up agendas etc for emailing to the meeting invitees. Easy to use and very powerful in that you can add attachments to minutes. One thing I would love to see added is fully synch capability between iPad and Mac.that would make this a very powerful app altogether. There are a few rivals on Macs that offer full synch so maybe something worth considering.

Poorly explained use model – and overpriced for what it does

DesignThinking on

**UPDATE** Revisiting this app more than a year after my original review, it is rather depressing to find that this app is unchanged and unimproved. The developer chooses not to address the heroic usability and interface problems raised by many users. So my overall "avoid at any cost" recommendation still stands. What a shame. A. This app doesn't fit with normal meeting use. The developer has not taken the time to understand the use SYSTEM within which their app has to fit. As a result, it is impossible to maintain numbering integrity between your actions and any numbered agenda items. The app should be called "ActionTaker" rather than "Minute Taker", as it does not enable full minutes of numbered agenda items to be taken. Each of which may have several actions. Independently numbering actions means that they soon are way out of sync with any numbered Agenda items. This makes reviewing minutes after a meeting almost impossible. A shame that no developer has yet taken the little time and effort required to design a truly killer meeting app. I find this rather surprising, considering this is probably the number one use for iPads in the workplace! Maybe Apple will come up with something themselves (we can only hope). However, this app does NOT fit the bill for a meeting minute taker, and because of shortfalls in its poorly explained use model, is borderline unusable (for me, at least). As a result, I feel that the app is VERY overpriced (at least in AppStore terms). In short: confusing; not worth the money; a poorly-explained disappointment. A

Good minute taking app

Yoxallin on

United Kingdom

This app makes minute taking easy, it's not over complicated and allows some flexibility. It's also easy to issue the meeting minutes/notes to colleagues. Its one of the better meeting minute apps I have used and if it didn't cost so much I would have scored it higher. Added flexibility would improve the app further, for example being able to number minutes at different levels (1, 1.1, 1.2, 2, 2.1, 2.2 etc)

It's ok

Quirkytree on

United Kingdom

I was a little concerned after reading some of the posted reviews but was looking for an app that has the ability to add text meeting notes, actions and pictures of white boards or drawings. This app largely delivers this for me. I have tried the other more complicated meeting apps, which, in some cases took me a while to get my head around and offered far more than I needed. If you live in meetings and need to constantly track tasks and assigned actions then this app may be too basic for you. Pros Clean and neat interface. Uncomplicated Quickly come to grips with the app and start using it almost immediately. Cons It's a little expensive, relative to other apps. Wish list It would be good if photo's attached could be viewed full screen.
