I have downloaded probably every possible planner/time management app out there in the hopes they will fix me, and this is The One for me. The perfect Balance (get it?) of structure and flexibility.
Let’s start with the stunning UI. I love the little images you can add to activities. The view now has so many customization options and filters. The little clicks and dings as you complete tasks or adjust times are so satisfying. Tasks have the ability to add subtasks, which is great for time blocking. I also love that while you can plan your day out with start times and durations for activities, it’s extremely easy to adjust as the best laid plans of mice and men often go awry. Even better, you can track actual times with the simple press of the start button. It gives me a structure for my days but also the flexibility so I don’t feel imprisoned by my own tools.
Next, the integrations. It can sync activities from reminders, calendar, and Apple health. I have not found an app that syncs with all of those!
The stats. I don’t use the ratings much because that’s not really my thing, but the pie charts of how you spend your time completely changed my life. It’s really helped me Balance (I’m so sorry for the puns) my time. I am a chronic overcommitter, and often fall into bouts of anxiety and overwhelm from not having enough time to just exist. With Balance I can take control of my time confetti and aim for 20% of my time to be unplanned.
Which leads me to the next feature I love: the Inbox. Part of adhd is sort of a lack of object permanence. When I do have free time, I suddenly forget everything I wanted to do with it. I use the inbox to keeps tabs on what projects, books, etc. I’m engaging with so when I have that unplanned time I have a menu to choose from (The Dopamenu). I appreciate that the inbox is not confined to a date, and can also be hidden if I don’t want to see all the extra things.
Lastly, the support. They recently added one click feedback to the main screen and I’ve used it any time I find a bug or even to recommend features. I usually get a response within an hour, and I even received a personal email notifying me that a feature I suggested was being rolled out. The time between my suggestion and the feature addition was barely a month.
So basically I’m deleting all my planner apps and exclusively using Balance now.
What I was looking for
Finally took my life under control! I am not over exaggerating. The balanced app has calendar events, health activities, habits, regular, scheduled and “inbox” tasks, sub tasks, goals, time and mood tracking all in one place. They managed to make all of this variety easy to manage with very cute and appealing interface. I LOVE that I can create an activity with the goal to do it certain number of minutes (hours) per week, start tracking it when I focus on it and then see how much is left. Also they have widgets. I can just turn on the phone and see my whole day in the widget without opening the app. Now this is my only app that replaced 9 other apps, that were good on their own, but each has only one piece of the whole picture and without integration you don’t have sense of control of your time.
Unfortunately complicated and limited
The design is bulky and makes it hard for those with unusual schedules. Also, I don’t want to be asked how I feel about anything I have to do on my calendar. It’s weird and time consuming, which when you’re busy really defeats the purpose. I will be cancelling my trial.
Great app for organizing, but does not let me edit
I have just started using this app. It’s great in many ways. I can feel myself relaxing into the idea that this is a real tool that can help. I made a mistake on one of my scheduled tasks. When I went to edit, the app would not save. All the info was editable, the save button was lit and ready to go, but when I hit save, nothing happened. I tried this on each of my scheduled tasks. I could not move things around once set, which is necessary for true scheduling to occur and become routine. I had to reset the app and lost all my information. I like it for its potential, but if editing my schedule doesn’t work, it’s useless to me.
Helpful
I like how on track this has kept me & I can set it up to were it works for me
This dev team does not miss
This app is thoughtfully crafted. And well maintained. Steady updates moving in a coheasive direction.
Another subscription, hard pass 👎
Had high hopes for the app… features looked great so I downloaded the app.
Can’t see / use most of the features without opting into the 7-day trial + auto renewing subscription (and there is no option to purchase the product, SUBSCRIPTION ONLY)
…and I guess the 7-day trial is actually a 6 day trial as the subscription renews 24hours before the trial expires.
Additionally the company collects user data (some types which may be sold) and utilizes trackers…
Don’t collect /sell my data if you are charging me a subscription fee, and don’t offer a free trial that can only be accessed by agreeing to an auto-renewing subscription.
Just so tired of this behavior from companies 😒 Double-hard-pass
It’s Okay
I really wanted to love this app. The feature list is practically perfect. I’ve used “Fabulous” and really gotten into healthy routines and habits. I also use “Things” and the GTD system, and was looking forward to the time blocking and the analysis pie chart. The reflective features are useful, like rating energy etc.
But here’s my complaint: the user interface is not smooth enough. It takes way too many steps to do things. It gets in its own way, in the way of actually getting stuff done. With some remorse, I’ve decided to instead use “Structure” for time blocking. Even though it has fewer features, the features it does have are a bit smoother and easier, and when we are talking about habits and routines and planning, we want it all to be as easy and pleasant as humanly possible. Unfortunately, as of this writing, Balance is not quite there. But with a some good work on the UX, I sincerely hope they get it there, because it could be amazing.
Unable to edit
This would have been my magic for ADHD app however no matter what I’ve tried I can’t alter making the bed for a task 10 times. Everything else was set perfectly however my brains set to now be frustrated and give up which also wastes my trial period. Unfortunately apps like this don’t allow room for error as often us using them do so thanks to unique brains. It would have beaten out hundreds of other apps for me and nearly did until one single thing won’t allow me to edit.
Daily items don’t repeat
I am hoping someone will respond to this, as no answer was available.
I had my my whole day set up and on daily repeat and most tasks don’t repeat as they should.
Also, my reminders app loaded at first but then the reminders are gone and not able to link even though they are set up right.
Any help would be great. I love this app but it’s just not functioning properly
