Love the instrument selection. Great tool for education purposes. Teaches you all about sound effects, the way instruments play in open or confined areas. I made a bit of music myself. I'd love if you put in a more realistic guitar strum. I can't really use it well.
This is a great app. It only needs a step sequencer for drum programming to be perfect. So four stars from me now but five if a future update introduces a step sequencer. Its big strength is its variety of sounds and there are extra packs that you can buy.
The new version is a great step up from v1. Audio tracks
For those of us who had the previous version of music studio, this FREE upgrade feels (and looks like) you're getting a brand new program. It's been a while in the making but it's certainly worth it. The holy grail of a midi and audio track sequencer for handheld devices has finally been realised. There's so much in this update it's almost unreal. The library sounds have improved (although still a little dinky), but there's also a much greater choice of instruments and synths....most notable is the "world drums" patch. There's now the option of a drum pad layout for putting down beats and it's seriously easy to edit. Recording audio is brilliant, although I'd go easy on the effects if you have a lot of tracks. I've gotten used to copy/pasting my audio to other (guitar amp) programs to add effects and bringing them back in. This is a handy solution for people using large numbers of tracks. There are a few things that bug me (i.e the pan knob is irritatingly small and fiddley), but this is such a leap forward for iOS musicians that it really does warrant the 5 stars. Don't forget, music studio is designed more as a musical notepad, not some "production ready" dance ap...and in this update, you really do have the ALL the tools in one place. Brilliant job.
This is the best app I have download and payed for.I have used FL studio and am verry happy with this one.
I use Ableton usually, and was looking around for a serious tool for the iPad to create ideas on the fly with little fuss and the ability to port back into a DAW. This app does exactely that and has a fair amount of decent sounds available so creativity doesn't feel restricted. The drum sounds and preset loops are great for getting projects started quickly, and the general flow is nearly seamless. After finding a few niggles, was a pleasure to find that the developer is well on the ball, forward thinking and listening to the needs of the artists using this app. Very liberating app with a bright future - many thanks for making this!
