MyGearVault is the best way to “Input • Organize • Protect” your gear!
MyGearVault is a FREE app designed to help photographers and videographers from professionals, to amateurs, to even hobbyists, know what they have and what it’s worth.
Quickly and securely input all of your gear into your personal vault. We’ve made it easy for you to store all the important information about your gear. Store and verify your serial number, picture of your receipt, date purchased and much more. Even if your item doesn’t have a serial number ,you can still add it to your vault.
We know you have a lot of gear, that’s why we help you organize it in a few unique and effective ways. First, each item can be saved into a specific category (i.e. Cameras, Lens, Computers, Data Storage, etc.). When you click on a category, you will see the total value of items based on the gear inside. Secondly, you can create custom kits of gear, like a wedding kit, travel kit, studio kit, video kit and more. This is a great way to know the value of gear you’re taking with you.
Protect your gear. Get piece of mind that your gear has a level of protection when it’s stored inside your vault. For example, if your camera is stolen, simply click the “stolen” button inside the app and your serial number will be entered into our stolen database. If someone tries to verify your lens as their own, we will be notified.
We at MyGearVault understand the importance of protecting your gear. That’s why we’re working with licensed professionals with access to top-rated insurance companies to find a solution that fits your needs. Right now inside MyGearVault you can take a short questionnaire to receive an insurance quote. And in about one business day, you can have full comprehensive coverage from one of our licensed insurance partners.

MyGearVault FAQ
Is MyGearVault free?
Yes, MyGearVault is completely free and it doesn't have any in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Is MyGearVault legit?
🤔 The MyGearVault app's quality is mixed. Some users are satisfied, while others report issues. Consider reading individual reviews for more context.
I guess the app is okay, and when you begin entering your gear, at first it's great, because you'll start with your cameras and lenses, and if your gear is resonably new, the database will know them. But already when you get to your bags, tripods and lens hoods, you very quickly get frustrated. My Manfrotto tripods are not found. And audio gear is just as bad: The database knows next to nothing: My Sennheiser mics and Zoom recorders are just not there. Although, sometimes it turns out that the app actually knows the gear that you're looking for, but you have to be very precise in your search input, because the app is not good at guessing what you mean, if your search input doesn't match exactly, and it suggests gear that isn't even in the right ballpark. It's not even a question of whether your input is correct or not - it has to match whatever the other joe happened to enter. By the way, other currencies are supported. They may not have been in earlier versions, but they are now. But I have yet to find out if this is an app that I'll really use.
Great application for photographers
Great way of getting all your gear registered.
Would like if you could chose currency instead of only being able to use $.
Need currencies
Just open the app and only dollars? You need more currencies
Great app
I love this app for creating an inventory of my camera gear. So far it’s been able to find all the stuff I have, and inputting my gear is easy & quick.
I wish that I could add my own fields — I’d like to be able to add a few specifications to the lenses, like filter diameter for example.
I would also like to be able to have multiple categories of lenses — prime, macro, zoom, etc.
So it may get not be perfect, but it is really a nice interface and very easy to use.
Great idea, needs a lot of work.
Search is useless and insurance has yet to be implemented. Hoping this gets some work as it’s a great idea.
It’s ok - needs updating.
I wish you could arrange the order when looking at all gear instead of seeing the order in which you added them. Also I want to see the notes when I choose to look at a piece of gear, shouldn’t need to select edit to see notes. Need to be able to covert to a pdf or something more universal for printing.
Great but CSV export broken
I’ve had this app for at least 5 years. It moves with you from phone to phone because it’s cloud based (that’s why you create an account). The insurance part hasn’t worked in years so even if you want to get insurance through the app, you can’t.
I’ve found out in the last 2 weeks that exporting your data as CSV file is useless because the file will be missing some of your gear. I have 75 items in the app but it only shows 62 when exporting. This actually makes it useless for reporting purposes because now you have to go into a spreadsheet yourself and add things manually to the spreadsheet. This completely defeats the purpose of the app.
I tried contacting the developers through their site and got no reply. It’s a shame because otherwise the app is really great.
Bug: App resets if you go out while adding gear
If you are adding new gear and enter purchase date and then go to another app it starts all over and deletes your progress. Doesn’t do it until you enter purchase date. You can choose type of gear and leave and it stays up. You can add receipt and leave and it stays up. You can even enter purchase price and leave to another app or whatever and it is still up when you return. But once you enter purchase date it you go to another app you get to start all over. Now that I did the trouble shooting for you Please fix it!
Worthless
Yeah after inputting all my gear prices taking pictures of my receipts,I cannot get insurance they say they’re working on it
Canon RF lenses ?
Canon RF lenses don’t seem to be in the database and need to be added manually. Makes me think the app is. It being updated and will one day just disappear - taking my info away with it. Better to keep info that would be needed for an insurance claim in a spot that you have control over.
