Agency Representation Not Enough
I had read about neon coat and heard about it from another model. What it read lead me to believe it was for models wanting to take the reigns on their own careers and to hold some control and power over their work. I believed being represented by a modelling agency and having subsequent comp cards would be enough to qualify. Again thinking the platform was designed to help models. However I was disappointed to learn that even though I am fully signed, represented, have shot with several well known photographers and worked 5 fully paid contracts (small but not nothing). I was declined because important parameters not met were (and I quote) ‘ parameters for approval: - Instagram followers + engagement - professional modelling work’ For reference I have 6500 followers and an ER of 10%. Additionally the platform stated it wanted official models and not influencers, and yet it uses influencer metrics to evaluate applications?¿ Safe to say just very disappointed as I find the way Neon Coat portrays itself isn’t perhaps entirely true to their actual intention. I’m sure if you are already a well established model with hundreds of thousands of followers and regular work you’d get approved, but then I ask what the heck would be the point of the app? Consider me confused.
