Surprisingly good
Didn’t expect to enjoy this game as much as I am. Everything looks good and runs smoothly. The one drawback, that isn’t even much of a drawback, is the fact that this game is not as challenging as Pokémon yellow (if you know, you know). Regardless, If you’re a Pokémon fan then the full version of this game is well worth the $3. Actually, drawback #2, no mini map of any kind, unless I’m missing something. Still a good game though.
Add a map and its the best game on the marketplace.
Seems more focused on the humans than the Nexomon.
I’ve taken an interest in the monster taming genre, so this was a natural game to check out. It’s obviously trying to be Pokemon, which is fine, but something about it feels artificial. The Nexomon feel like stylized animals more than characters in themselves, and for the most part are pretty forgettable. The fact that there are so many different kinds packed into every patch of grass only exacerbates this. You don’t get to know any before another one is shoved in your face. Compare this to a similar game, Coromon, which makes it a point to integrate their monsters into the culture of each town.
Oddly, the game seems to put a lot of energy into making the humans vibrant and unique. Every NPC looks like a main character, to the point where all the anime in the first city almost felt like sensory overload. The human characters themselves are well written and memorable, easily making them one of the best parts of the game, but they dominate the game’s screen time. There’s nothing wrong with having strong human characters, but with the previous criticism it makes the soul of the game feel like it’s all Ash and no Pikachu, if you get my point.
Lastly, this game has no problem letting you know that it is in fact a game at every opportunity. By the time I was prompted for this review, there were like five times when a character made a self aware joke about RPG tropes or even broke the fourth wall. That’s fine now and then, but this game overdoes it. Couple this with the microtransaction button always being onscreen, and immersion is next to impossible. It also feels like the resources are very limited, as a way of making paying a major mechanic rather than an option, but at this point I’ll have to come back later to confirm if it’s as big of an issue as it could be.
fun at first but lacks dimension
it's pretty fun at first, have some definitely good perks like the ability to purchase unlimited masterball with a set price. however, most of the monsters are really ugly, and the good looking ones are almost without a doubt all normal type. so unless you want to collect just to collect there really is no motivation to continue. secondly, each type can only learn skill from that type and while there is no monster with multiple skills, each skill is countered by 4 different types, so most of the time the battle isn't hard but is just a waste of time to waste time by making your skill just 1-2 hp short from killibg them despite you are over 20+ level above simply because you can only learn 1 type of skill. when you add that to no passive skill to any monsters it makes it even more one dimension and boring since there really is no difference between each monster outside of appearance, which isn't a selling point for this version of nexomon by any means. overall, it's well made, just boring.
I love this game!!
Best game I’ve played on the AppStore by far! Definitely will recommend this to anyone out there who loves a challenge this game has lots of great graphics and the battle scenes are amazingly put together! Literally spent more than 40 hours on this game haha sounds crazy but literally there’s so many side quest and main quest to do! Also great storyline! Cant wait to see more games come out like this on the App Store!
Comedic and Fun
I just wanted to write a review because whoever created the character Coco deserves a prize. The game is pretty fun but this is the only game ever to make me laugh out loud. I know that sounds weird and not sure if it’s what the developers intended but the humor in this game tagged along with the gameplay is so fun. Coco’s lines have a great comedic sense and I’m loving it.
awesome
super good game
Credits
Great game!!! Credits are wayyyy too long for no reason and unskippable.
Obsessed with this game (coming from someone who hates to write reviews for anything)
Still waiting on the nexomon 3, it is truly must!!
