WHAT IS OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE DISORDER (OCD)?
OCD is a common psychiatric disorder that involves repetitive, unwanted thoughts that cause anxiety, and compulsive behaviors done in an attempt to reduce this anxiety. Commonly misunderstood as nothing more than a personality quirk, OCD usually involves intense distress and can become completely debilitating when left untreated.

IS NOCD THERAPY EFFECTIVE?
NOCD live video therapy has been shown to be as effective as face-to-face therapy. Our model has been backed by research from the Columbia University Medical Center, which found a reduction in OCD severity by an average of 40% in 8 weeks of NOCD Therapy.

WHO ARE NOCD THERAPISTS?
NOCD’s extensive therapist network includes licensed counselors, psychologists, and social workers. Every NOCD Therapist receives specialty training in exposure and response prevention (ERP) therapy, the most effective OCD treatment. All NOCD therapists are managed by our clinical leadership team of experts who have 20+ years of experience treating OCD and have designed some of the world’s top OCD treatment programs.

IS NOCD SECURE?
Our services are powered by AWS and Aptible, both of which are fully SOC2 and HIPAA compliant. Your therapy data is stored in our EHR that also complies with all HIPAA requirements. All medical notes and records are only accessible by you and your therapist. Furthermore, in addition to internal privacy safeguards, we regularly enlist security researchers to assess our services for vulnerabilities. Useful app for support

I like this app so far, it has things you can do without a doctor and has a community support page that is the better version of FB

Unhelpful

CNN Boy on

United States

Didn’t do any of what I expected. Basically just a group discussion and therapist-connection app. If I wanted therapists, I’d just go to one. Doesn’t help me track or manage my symptoms at all, at least not in a way that I’ve been able to see, access, or use for free. Just make it a paid app if everything helpful is behind paywalls. I’d be happy to be proven wrong, but all I see is a questionnaire for obsessions and compulsions. Nothing more. Just groups and therapists you have to pay for. If that works for you, that’s great! But it isn’t anything like what I was meant to believe. This is the first review I’ve ever left for an app - just want others to know what they’re getting into.

I was trying to make an account and it’s so hard because when I’m asked to verify my email account I did get my code unfortunately when retrieved the keyboard to type it on its super small how am I supposed to get anywhere with that…

App is amazing therapy even better

mehseze on

Putting the therapy aside for a second this app is absolutely amazingly well designed and stable. I have used many mental health apps and this is the best so far. I have used so many apps because I hadn’t found a treatment that seeemed to help. Turns out this is what I needed. I am a few weeks in and have made more progress then in the last several years of dedicated weekly in person therapy and use of dozens of mental health apps.

Junk

nknemo5 on

Registration and confirmation process is slow, clunky and user unfriendly. Threw in trash before I even signed up. Add the fact that no company on earth is able to secure your data so you know your mental health is going to become an open secret on the dark web.

Very Hurt & Disappointed

Jennie.Annie on

I was working with a NOCD therapist for about 6 weeks and had already seen a 28% decrease in my symptoms, so the therapy is very helpful and effective but that is not what I’m reviewing. This past week I had to cancel my appointment due to being in the hospital. I ended up being placed on a hold and was transferred to an inpatient facility. I checked the app today and it said I am no longer enrolled in active therapy. There was no conversation, no message sent to me, no discussion…I just was unceremoniously kicked out of the program which honestly really hurt my feelings. I’m not in the most stable of places and I agree that ERP at this time is probably not the best idea. I just would have appreciated the courtesy of a discussion or a heads up that this would be happening. It felt like I was being punished for having a psychiatric emergency. If I do decide to undergo ERP in the future, it will definitely not be through NOCD. To say I’m disappointed is an understatement.

Can you make an inbox in the app

Can you make an inbox so we can message each other and make some support groups free for those who can’t afford the therapy

Amazing app

This app is an incredible example of a great resource. Not only has it made me feel less alone in my ocd, but it has given me my life back. I’m so grateful for this app and the therapist who helped me so so much. I really really recommend downloading if you have ocd.

Community Groups Have Become A Joke

AnonymousItunesUser on

United States

When I first started therapy with NOCD, the groups were led by a licensed therapist named Jenna. She was very professional and seemed dedicated to her work. At that time most of the groups were also facilitated by licensed therapists. But we have recently noticed a shift in how the therapy groups are organized. Most of the groups are led by the same advocates, sometimes in 1 day there are back-to-back groups by the same host, repeatedly. The company gives the impression of offering a variety of OCD-themed groups, but in reality, 70% of the groups are managed similarly, lacking actual variety. Unlike some groups run by licensed therapists that have a specific viewpoint and educational component, many groups turn into open-ended forums until the final minute of the hour, where the same, often narcissistic attendees repeatedly dominate discussions. Groups are frequently canceled last minute when moderators fail to show up regularly, and we’re lucky if we’re notified in advance. While emergencies can occur, this level of inconsistency is offensive. These groups are crucial for our recovery journal while in therapy that we pay NOCD very much for, and they should not be seen as just an additional benefit.

Dangerous and Exploitative

Eronamanthius on

Intake call was very dodgy. Person did not elaborate on how billing works, and said it’ll be worked out “on the back end”. That’s not how a business should work. Your “Good Faith” estimate says I won’t be overcharged more than $400. Great, so I can only get scammed for up to $399.99? Also, the overwhelming majority of “advice” is to just sit and stew in your negative thoughts. What quack came up with that? Oh, it’s someone who wants to perpetuate the clients illness, not someone who actually wants to help. Having Howie Mandell as a patient would be great… if he ever showed any signs of recovering. Maybe don’t pick a mascot that flips out over physical contact on public television.
