Nonograms Katana: Sharpen your mind!
Nonograms, also known as Hanjie, Griddlers, Picross, Japanese Crosswords, Japanese Puzzles, Pic-a-Pix, "Paint by numbers" and other names, are picture logic puzzles in which cells in a grid must be colored or left blank according to numbers at the side of the grid to reveal a hidden picture. The numbers are a form of discrete tomography that measures how many unbroken lines of filled-in squares there are in any given row or column. For example, a clue of "4 8 3" would mean there are sets of four, eight, and three filled squares, in that order, with at least one blank square between successive groups.
To solve a puzzle, one needs to determine which cells will be boxes and which will be empty. Determining which cells are to be left empty (called spaces) is as important as determining which to fill (called boxes). Later in the solving process, the spaces help determine where a clue (continuing block of boxes and a number in the legend) may spread. Solvers usually use a dot or a cross to mark cells they are certain are spaces.
It is also important never to guess. Only cells that can be determined by logic should be filled. If guessing, a single error can spread over the entire field and completely ruin the solution.

can i please change the background picture in a puzzle? there are so many settings but not one for changing background.

So happy I stumbled on this game. Everything about it is great - the selection of puzzles, the controls, the not intrusive ads. I also love that this app is not selling my data.

I’ve been playing on my iPhone for over a year now and I just found out that there’s an entire game that us Apple users are missing out on. I would gladly pay for it and I’m sure many others would as well. This feels like the equivalent of the game boy version of a console game. It’s still really fun, but knowing that there’s that much content missing makes it less enjoyable now. Thank you.

Best version of this game yet
This has everything I was looking for. Challenging puzzles, a simple yet advanced and customizable interface. You can even make your own puzzles and play others! I rarely rate apps but this one exceeded my expectations and was free!
Totally worth it
Holy cow what a worthy app. Have been a nonogram nut since I discovered picross ages ago. I miss the stylus and buttons I had for picross but the vast number of puzzles _and_ user submitted puzzles is astounding for Nonograms Katana. Thanks, whoever wrote this, totally worth the (cheap!) VIP price.
My fave hanjie app!
The best hanjie app in my opinion. Not only for the variability of puzzles and formats and colours available, but mostly for the options of the user interface. I can choose if I wanna auto fill the solved rows or show when I make mistakes or freeze the panes on the sides… the options seem endless! I can pick any puzzle in whatever order I want, redo my faves whenever and honestly I’ve been looking for this app since I changed my phone and tried to remember its name bc it is simply my favourite out of all the ones out there. 5 stars
Love the App but latest version unplayable
I gave prior versions 5-stars but the latest update makes it unplayable. When I freeze the top and left panes, scrolling right or down to see the puzzle squeezes the frozen panes smaller to the point of being illegible. I have had to stop playing
