Description

Learn to Read Music with Note Rush! Note Rush boosts your note reading speed and accuracy, building a strong mental model of where each written note is on your instrument. Now even better with Note Rush: 2nd Edition!
How it Works
---------------------------
Note Rush is like a virtual flash card deck for all ages that listens to you play each note, giving instant feedback and awarding stars based on speed and accuracy of note identification.
Race against the clock to improve your performance or hide the timer to gently engage those just starting out with the staff.
Includes built-in levels for piano and a range of other instruments as well as custom level design.

What makes Note Rush Different?
---------------------------
- Play On Your Instrument
Note reading is best learnt in the context of how you identify and play each note - on your acoustic or MIDI instrument.
- Designed for Teachers
...and not as a replacement for them! Create fully customizable note sets and easily send them home to students.
- Fun Themes
Engage with fun themes that don't get in the way of learning, or opt for traditional notation.

Landmarks: The best way to learn your notes
---------------------------
Note Rush fits with all teaching methods, whether you favor a purely intervallic approach or use traditional mnemonics! We promote learning key landmark notes then reading adjacent notes intervallically for the best results in learning to read piano notation.
Note Rush features a unique landmarks-based hints system (optional) that highlights nearby landmark notes to read intervallically from. Over time students naturally move from reliance on landmarks to a more intrinsic staff-to-keyboard association.

Preset and Custom Levels
---------------------------
Use preset note ranges or create your own set of levels to suit your teaching style. Create a personalized level to target a particular student’s needs.
- Individual Note Selections
- Sharps and Flats
- Treble, Bass or Grand Staff (alto and tenor coming soon)
- Up to Six Ledger Lines
- Send custom note reading drills using App Links or QR Codes

Great App to improve speed

Great app to memorise notes and improve the play speed. Multiple levels help to gradually improve.

Sight Reading

This app is great for sight reading. When I started piano, I was really bad at sight reading, so I downloaded Note Rush. In about 5 days, I was already onto Accidentals. I was really impressed about this app. This app is great because it was free to download and was too good to be free. 🆓

App gets stuck on notes and freezes

Certain notes just don’t register (not incorrect notes) and the only way to move forward is to exit. Treble C on piano is a common issue.

Fantastic

I use this app almost daily with almost all of my piano students, and most of them use it at home too. I am beginning to use it with my woodwind students too since the update, thank you! For future updates, could you please consider the following features: Option for melodic and/or harmonic intervals (i.e., 2 or more notes per question with the ability to set the interval, ascending or descending, by number); option to set the tuning/starting note as something not in the range of notes in the level card (i.e., for piano students with all space notes on their custom level card, I would still like them to begin the game with Middle C or with the D or B a 2nd away from Middle C because I teach these as their primary landmarks and then use an intervallic counting method from there to begin with before they learn secondary landmarks). If it is possible to do common chord shapes (such as triads in root position/first inversion/second inversion) then that would be absolutely amazing. These features would keep my students from "levelling out" of this app for a lot longer, and would enable me to use it with more of my intermediate students rather than just with beginners. Thank you for all the work you have already put into this app, and for making it a one-time payment rather than a subscription - it's very hard to get parents to buy subscription apps, but I haven't encountered any problem with one-time payments for this, making access easy for each new student I recommend to get the app!

It’s okay but

It doesn’t always detect the notes when I play them

Great app. Love it

I really love the simplicity of this app with my piano students. It’s perfect for a couple of minutes of down time or even focussed learning when learning or revising new notes. I love that I can tailor it to my students needs.

Great App But A Bit Overpriced

I got this app recommended to me by my piano teacher and I love the app. The only gripe that I have with it is that I think the app is a bit too expensive for what it has to offer. I know this app has no adds and you need money somehow, and I’m not saying to make it free or anything. Just make it a bit cheaper the $8.00, like around $5.00. But that aside. If you want to learn note reading I say this app is perfect as well as other apps like a great one called Staff Wars. Anyway, thank you for your time, bye!
