The good - this app is full featured. So much to like about it. Note revisions is a must and Notesnook has this. The best part, fully encrypted, even at rest. Make self-hosting an option and it will check all the boxes. The mobile app interface is a little bit clunky and there have been minor sync issues. Overall, I’m happy to be using Notesnook. Self-hosting gets it 5 stars.
Tried a subscription because I liked it via web, but the iOS app won’t reliably sync at all. Pity, otherwise it’s a good notes service.
I’ve been an Evernote user for over a decade, but didn’t like how they were changing the app, and concerned about note privacy. I started looking about a year or so ago for another app and tried Notesnook. It has a great text editor, and worked well between my phone, iPad, and Windows PC. After testing for a few months I decided to start migrating some of my Evernote notes to it and that went pretty well. Ultimately I moved over 18,000 notes over and have cancelled my EN subscription. The app syncs very quickly, has a clean and crisp UI. No lag at all. I wish the search was better, but I understand that search improvements are on the way. But even without that, it is a great app, and best of all, my data is fully encrypted. Highly recommended.
I’ve looked far and wide for an Evernote alternative that has a similar feel. Notesnook does the trick and I’m quite happy to be switching over.
there is a trending habit where people want to decrease their phone screen time and dependency on phone in general. it would be essential to have Notesnook apple watch app so when phone is not around, important favorited notes be accessible on the watch. Or better jot down an important idea when phone is not around. That would make life so much more efficient without needing the phone.
Update after v3 bug fixes may29: the bug preventing me from opening locked notes has been fixed. Also, since v3 I have had next to zero sync problems while using NN on iOS android and windows. OG review: Locked notes will not open after successful biometric verification. I get taken back to main notes screen after trying to open locked notes. Unlocked not open just fine.
New user. Fresh download. Over the course of three days I have made multiple attempts to verify my email address to sync data, and I never receive the confirmation link. I’ve also tried changing my email address, and I get a text message to verify the code, but there is nowhere on the app to enter it.
I've spend years using and trying different note taking apps, mostly stuck to the free ones since I couldn't justify paying for just taking notes... That is, until I found Notesnook, after using OneNote and Google keep for years. I finally wanted something more secure and open. I tried obsidian and others, and I didn’t find them as intuitive and user-friendly at the same time. I highly recommend Notesnook because it is user-friendly yet has a lot of features considering it’s open source and is well maintained through the community. it is well worth the small fee a month to have peace of mind and reliability all in one package. overall, five stars Sidenote: if you are looking for notetaking with an Apple Pencil or a stylus, then I would look elsewhere like one note notability or even apple notes since the feature on Notesnook is not great at all, but if you are just looking for something to maintain notes, the Notesnook is by far the best.
I’ve been searching for a while. I know Notesnook isn’t done (see their roadmap) but it’s close enough now that I can start using it daily. Definitely give it a try!
