Description

Observer Pro is an indispensable app for advanced astronomy observing and astrophotography planning. No more guessing when that galaxy emerges from behind that tree. No more estimating how many hours you'll be able to image an object. Observer Pro gives every astronomer the info they need to make the most of their observing right at their fingertips!

What astronomers are saying:

"Every astronomer with an iPhone should own this app!"
- Astronomy Technology Today magazine

"Observer Pro is the most impressive astronomy app that I have tried out. I enthusiastically commend it to you!"
- Tom Mote, Professor Emeritus, Astronomy

"I have been using it since the day it first became available and I cannot live without it now."
- Sedat B., Cloudy Nights forum

Feature highlights:

• Over 14,000 deep sky objects included, all with closeup reference photos. No need to download anything after install! Sorting and search make it easy to sift through all of them to find which objects belong on your observing list.

• Measure your local horizon profile in minutes with your iPhone.

• Unique charts completely take the guesswork out of predicting object visibility. Your house, trees, mountains, or any other obstructions are completely factored in to all visibility charts.

• New to astronomy? The Featured object list shows a list of objects specific to your location and local horizon that are great for observing right now.

• Keep a list of your favorite observing sites, each with their own local horizon profile. Compare object visibility between sites to find the best spot to setup your scope.

• There's a lot to observe! Observer Pro gives you a place to maintain a list of your favorite objects as well as an observing list that you can take with you to the eyepiece (red-screen night mode is included).

• 7Timer! astronomical weather forecasts for your observing sites are viewable without leaving Observer Pro. They give you the outlook on cloud cover, seeing, transparency, and more. (The weather screen can also be configured to show your favorite weather URL.)

• Simple and intuitive interface makes all these powerful features readily accessible. You don't need to be a Certified Astro Geek to use it (but if you are, you'll appreciate the efficiency)!

• Check out the in-app tutorial (in Settings) to learn more about how to use the many features that come with Observer Pro.

Just what I was looking for

BonBevitt on

I was looking for an app which could quickly and simply tell me what the best AP targets are at at the current time. This app is ideal as you can organise the lists by size, type, mag, altitude, etc and for each object there is a handy graphic which show at a glance the altitude and highlights the suitable targets in green. Also the catalog of targets is pretty comprehensive. Could be cheaper, but worth the money. Great app.

Amazing and Very Powerful

.Psamathe on

Excellent app that has amazing functionality. I used to use it just checking what's visible and had missed all the detailed info and more powerful features e.g. local horizons (easy to setup within app) which tells me which site in garden is best for specific objects). Different people will use it is different ways but surprisingly powerful and feature rich.

Waste of money

Rofas2 on

It's a below average catalog/plannner, and very limited to that, with the only interesting feature being the custom horizon drawing, that is not working at all. Tried on two different iphoneXs and while you draw it keeps moving and 'following' you so it cannot make proper use of the phone sensors to reliably 'understand' and remember where exactly you were drawning the limit for a house or a tree (also after rebooting and resetting the phone compass and inclinometer that are both correctly reporting).

Unique and Useful

Great App and fun to use. Some truly unique features such as will my house get in the way of my view M104 etc. PLEASE UPDATE TO TAKE ADVANTAGE IF iPhone X

Nevermind that it isn't compatible with iOS 8...

It's not even compatible with iPhone 5/5S/5C wider screen that launched with iOS 6 THREE YEARS AGO!!!

Excellent app

Very useful for planning observing sessions and finding new objects which are well positioned. Easy to use and well laid out.

Really useful

Poggie on

It took me a little while to get to grips with but has been massively useful for a beginner like me. I have an iPhone 3GS so the horizon mapping does not work but I installed the app on a friend's iPhone 4s did the horizon map in my back garden. Emailed to myself and imported it and bingo, accurate night viewing info for my garden. Together with SkySafari 3 I am really learning the night sky. Worth the effort. Looking forward to a new version of my favourite astronomy planner.
