14% hidden cost to return the balance. Use physical card

Just added 100€. Amount taken off My account and nothing added to octopus card. The app just closed and the money is gone.

If you decide to buy it cause you’re in a rush, better top it up the second time with cash (at subway stations with customer service) after the mandatory first toppingup. The in-app currency rate in euros changes but it’s usually around 14% above the official rate (so better don’t charge the maximum 3000hkd if it’s not with cash). They force you to choose a non hkd currency (so having hkd in revolut cards etc won’t work) and after the first top up you won’t be able to chose another currency (i think in usd the conversion was even worse). So on their FAQ they are lying cause the app with debit or credit card does have fees for adding value. I quote them: Is there a fee for adding value to my Octopus on iPhone or Apple Watch? No. There is no charge for adding value through the Octopus App for Tourists, or adding value with cash at designated service providers […the last way is the way to go if you want to avoid that hidden fee. Atms usually charge 5usd for each withdrawal but they usually have good conversion fees. Some shops/restaurant only accept payments through octopus or with cash, others are fine with foreign mastercards/visas etc].

It’s a hidden charge for tourists. Pure scam

用八达通请直接去apple钱包添加卡，这个app会乱吞卡而且不退钱。百来块钱的卡，要用的时候跟我说无法使用，客服电话打不通，钱也退不了。

骗子软件充钱了不给卡

剩余退不了款，一段时间后卡信息都没了，客服电话打不通，不知道app咋审核通过的，

大家慎重下载这个app，我用苹果手机下载后，往里面充值了，绑定不到钱包，连个卡号都不显示，也没有上面显示的退卡界面显示，你就冲了，能不能还不知道

银联24年4月宣布Apple pay可以支持内地卡充值八达通了。 直接苹果钱包添加八达通使用任意银联卡充值就行，不需要用这个不完善的旅客八达通了。 无法退款，系统各种同步不正确，退款要两三个月就算了，根本申请不了退款。

交通卡直接支付宝，买东西看汇率低可以多充一点，如果只是交通卡，既麻烦又费钱，手续费来来回回花了我23+
