OpenSky - App for Drone Flyers

Find where you can fly

Published by: Wing Aviation

Description

Knowing where it’s legal to fly your drone can be complex. OpenSky is the simplest and fastest way to view drone rules and regulations in the U.S. and Australia. Powered by Google Maps, pilots can find out where to fly their drone, plan a flight with a few quick clicks, check airspace rules and get automated access to controlled airspace (LAANC).
Features of OpenSky include:
Guide for drone flying - Find out where and when you can and cannot fly.
Compliance maps from Aviation Authorities - OpenSky makes it easy to visualize airspace rules tailored to your operation and aircraft; for both commercial & recreational drone operators.
Identify Risks - OpenSky will help identify possible flight hazards in your area like Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFRs).
Airspace authorizations - Drone operators can automatically request authorization to fly in controlled airspace, often the busy airspace near major cities. In the United States this is called LAANC.
Track your missions - OpenSky will track and manage your past and upcoming flights, notify you of changes to any planned flights.

Doesn’t work in Europe

Wrighti20 on

Australia

The app use to work in Europe but in both UK and France the app doesn’t work.

Works great.

I recommend to use the satellite image on the map. Perhaps the developers could consider making that the default…

ReOC trials

I’m using this app for approvals to fly near airport during a trial time. Easy enough to use once all the credentials are loaded. Very happy to fly near home and better my fly skills.

Ok but not perfect

M@Nv3L on

Australia

Check list menu can’t be moved down to have full screen map. Most important, for who doesn’t have google or doesn’t want it, there should be another way to log in with another email provider.

Another useless misrepresentation

bdc74 on

Australia

All these drone apps are useless. The majority of drones flying today are now sub 250g category. The rules/laws are totally different for this class but not one single drone app reflects this. Each developer blames CASA for not providing enough information when all they need to do is add a sub 250g category and associate it to the geo zones near controlled airports. It’s spreading misinformation which CASA is well known for.

Good app

Good to liaise with the DJI app, it's hard to know where to fly drones in national parks as DJI doesn't tell you as I found out today after getting told off by rangers. Im sure time will tell just how good this app really is.

Nice app with nice UI/UX but bad privacy due to using Google Map

Farhad Ris on

Australia

Like the app but hate using it just cause using Google map which gather my privacy sensitive data... if they were using Apple Map would be the best app!!!

Unreliable and unsafe due to errors

GPistheway on

Australia

Too many errors, e.g in commercial excluded category everywhere is “restricted airspace” yet in recreational it is not. Inconsistent information. Therefore unreliable tool. Although the real error is the regulating Govt. authority, CASA, dumping the accurate self managed Can I Fly There app for low grade private sector attempts and then promotes them for safe flying. DJI no fly zones are more reliable than this half effort. Very sad that a drone manufacturer provides safer flying information than CASA.

Love this app

The app is so easy to use, just find the location you want to fly and it will tell you whether or not you can fly there

Works perfectly
