The Oto app is the best way to manage tinnitus.
Founded by military doctors and world-leading tinnitus specialists, the Oto program will teach you to become unaware of your tinnitus and stop noticing it. If you do notice it, it won’t bother you.
It’s like when you fly on a plane. At first the sound of the engines is very loud. But after 10 minutes your brain tunes out the sound and you can read, watch TV or even go to sleep. You don’t notice the sound of the engines.
This process is called habituation.
When you are habituated to your tinnitus it no longer has a impact on your life. You don’t think about it and it doesn’t make you feel bad.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
The Oto app uses something called cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). CBT has been proven to be the best way to tune out tinnitus.
CBT is normally delivered by talking one on one with an audiologist or a psychologist.
Oto now recreates this experience.
Each day you listen to one or two audio sessions that use CBT and other therapeutic techniques. You work your way through a structured audio program that lasts approximately 3 months.
The app then tells you to repeat and practice sessions from the program until you have tuned out your tinnitus.
HOW DO I START?
First, Oto will assess your tinnitus stage to then recommend a personalised plan for you. Habituation is when your brain no longer reacts negatively to tinnitus, so that you stop noticing it. Whatever your stage, we can help reduce the impact of your tinnitus.
DAILY GUIDANCE
You can listen to just 5-10 minute audio sessions each day which will introduce you to a range of clinically proven techniques. Over the course of the program, you’ll learn the tools and techniques that work best for you and your tinnitus. Gaining an understanding of these techniques can help to relieve your tinnitus impact. Enjoy the renowned guidance of Anna Pugh - an award-winning audiologist and tinnitus coach - from the comfort of your own home with the daily sessions.
Through patience and commitment, you will learn how to tune out tinnitus.
WHAT OUR CUSTOMERS SAY ABOUT OTO
“After having a scuba diving accident, I developed tinnitus. I found Oto, wow, what a blessing. I was going off my mind and suddenly this had success. Keep up the sessions, go over it again. Worth every penny, it’s a lifesaver. 10/10 stars Thanks to the Oto team.” - Clinton
“The OTO app has changed my life. I have had tinnitus for 3 years with no success in dealing with it. When I found the app and used it every day my life changed. It hasn’t cured it but has helped me get in with my life instead of being a hostage to the noise. Each day is easier and brighter. Thank you.” - Taylor

Oto: Tinnitus Relief & Therapy Reviews
Truly recommend!
I experienced my tinnitus for the first time one year ago. It is a very high pitched noise and at the start I was panicking. So I went to a psychologist and as I wanted to do more when at home, I started using the Oto app. I have to say that it helped me tremendously, for which I am very grateful. Sometimes I have a little flare up, when I am stressed or have a lot on my plate. But I know that it will go away in a few days by just not paying to much attention to it.
For the last few weeks, I have a flare up again. This time it is taking weeks for it to go away, resulting in me having a more negative reaction to it again. So I am back at using the Oto app and practicing daily. As I was able to become in stage 4 before, I am confident that I will be able to do so using Oto. I highly recommend to use it when you are suffering from your tinnitus. No worries, it will get better!
Very helpful
Loving this app. A week in and I’m have hope
Bait and switch
They promote their paid tier in the app, which is fine and there are several things that have a lock on them unless you pay. But they have you start a 6 week program and if you click ahead, there’s no lock icon on weeks ahead, making you feel like you can do the program for free and just not upgrade to the live counseling if you don’t want. well, after you do the 1 week intro, the lock suddenly appears on the rest of the course unless you pay $130 for 3 months.. screwed up for an app claiming to want to help. just be upfront and not shady, oto.
Really useful app
When I find myself panicking about my ear ringing, I know I have something to turn to with this app. I’m surprising myself with the progress I’m making and I know I wouldn’t be able to achieve that alone!
Be Advised
I’m giving this app five stars in the event it might help some people. I'm sure the app has some sound enrichment benefits, which are critical.
Tinnitus is a weird animal, and all of us are helped differently. This app was not worth it. I found the sessions simplistic, passé, and not nearly as good as other apps out there. E.G. Sam Harris' app 'Waking Up' with much more sophisticated modules dedicated to cognitive behavioral therapy. It's not a tinnitus app but those of us that have had tinnitus know about Tinnitus Retraining Therapy and how important cognitive behavioral therapy is. I use the 'Calmer' app for sound enrichment.
I also don’t personally believe anyone working in the Tinnitus app field should exclude a reduced price or scholarship option. This is more expensive than a lot can afford. It can be such an emotionally crippling journey that can create such deep turmoil for so many that any high Paywall I find unacceptable. People whom want to help should find a way to financially manage things so they can help. Not profit off others pain.
Money well spent. Getting my life back.
Though I've had low-level tinnitus for 20 years, in January 2023 I got a concussion. The ringing in my ears ramped up from a 1 on a scale of 10 to a 7 or 8 most days. After months of anxiety and tinnitus-related agony, and near-constant masking sounds to cover up the metallic buzz in my ears, I started the Oto program in May, at the recommendation of my ENT. I have done the app almost every day since. While the tinnitus hasn't gone away (or even gone down much), what has changed, thanks to Oto, is how much it bothers me. Most days, especially in the past few months, my tinnitus has been much less troubling. When it gets really intense, I now have a wide range of tools from Oto to help deal with it.
Some specifics about the Oto team program that I appreciate: The Oto team is incredibly responsive. They promptly answer messages through the app as well as email, and have addressed my many questions thoroughly and kindly. As a person with PTSD, I appreciate the way the app addresses the trauma aspects of tinnitus. One of my favorite sessions is the one entitled "Resilience," which I've interpreted as "if you had the resilience to overcome severe trauma in your past, you can overcome tinnitus, too; in time, with effort." Another thing I like about Oto is their realistic description of expected results, as opposed to overblown promises often seen in other programs; or the "there's nothing you can do" approach of most doctors. Finally, the mix of education, self-guided PT, conscious breathing, and mindfulness exercises (that refreshingly don't require or push any particular belief system) have helped me not only with tinnitus but also other aspects of my life.
While I have not reached full habituation yet, I am hopeful. In that pursuit I started 1:1 coaching through Oto. My coach is Gladys and she's been amazing, even helping me prepare for an overseas trip where I will be in less controlled environments re: noise than I'm used to.
Both the monthly app and the private coaching have been money well spent.
Amazing
The sounds offered allow you to pick a masking sound that can provide immediate relief to help especially with sleep.
The training and exercises have helped me in just over a week to be able to go most of the day without noticing my Tinnitus.
I got Tinnitus as a result of loss of high pitch hearing in my left ear.
This app has helped me see tinnitus is not a danger nor threat and is just my brain thinking it is helping. This app works!!
Good app to help shift your focus away from tinnitus
Mr doctor, who also suffers from tinnitus, recommended the Oto app. It provides short daily sessions to learn ways to move focus away from tinnitus and reduce its impact on your life. So I have found it helpful over the past month that I have been using it.
Cancelling service
You make it much much much much much too hard to cancel service. I thought I had cancelled this months ago only to find out I have been getting billed monthly. Reporting you to the Better Business Bureau
Drained my battery
Left the app open in the background and the first night it drained my battery to zero. It was a slow drain starting around 7pm and then it was a rapid drain around midnight. I can’t have that so deleted it. Glad the iPhone shows what app was using your battery. It had this app using 90%.
