Not fully baked
Odd formatting issues with cutting and pasting - would randomly lose the formatting. These issues, and other issues just make it too time consuming to use this as a productivity app.
Great & Smple. Needs auto-sync
Great app, this one is he closest I could find to the old app " BrainForest " On the Palm Pilot. Funny it took so long! The only less than ideal thing is you need to manually sync/update your list whenever you start the app and whenever it exits if you want your other synchronized device to reflect your latest changes, it is probably a very easy feature to add for the developper: auto-sync option so it syncs whenever you open the app or click on your note, and whenever you exit the app. It will be a 5 star then.
Down the road, it would be great if we could add due dates and reminders/alarms, sync with Google Tasks and/or iOS.
Cannot import Natara Bonsai files larger than 0.5 meg
Promising but need more work. Still not up to the height of Bonsai. Remove one more star because non responsive support.
My number one app
I use this app everyday at work and it has become the app I use most often. It is both a To Do List and an Outliner. The interface is remarkably intuitive and it seems to handle anything I throw it. It is extremely robust - have never had a crash even with large outlines. The sync to the Carbon Fin website is great and makes this app even more useful. I can use the web version on windows and use cut and paste then sync to the iPad where it is much easier to rearrange the outline due to the touch interface and other iPad features, and of course, I can have the outline with me wherever I go.
Add to this the ability to backup easily and it's import/export features and it is an all round impressive product.
Just right
Outliner is great for high level project management. I needed something less structured and rigid than a Gantt style PM app. I wanted to created intented lists and sub tasks. This works perfectly for my purpose.
I would like to see printer support and the abilty to copy a project without using the copy paste kludge.
Very Well Done!
This is a very good Outliner app. It syncs with all your iDevices and has a great web interface (backup) as well. The web interface works great from an iPad browser too - Bonus!! Well worth the money. Great work!
Great implementation, sync rocks!
I was looking for an outline tool for some time. Most of the ones I tried in the app store were just very basic implementations of outline functionality.
This tool however, supports all the basic functionality and some great extra features.
The ability to keep notes with each line element is excellent. The ability to turn items into tasks and then to see a completion status on the parent node is just brilliant.
There is also an iPhone version of this application and the sync capability provided works very well. Easy to setup (just give a username and password) and easy to use (just hit sync) and all of a sudden the usefulness of the program has increased by an order of magnitude.
The only thing that I have found missing is the ability to do rich text formatting in the notes (bullets, bold and italics would suffice).
Absolutely one of the essential apps!
I have used this app for many years. I love it! I use it for packing lists, grocery lists, errands, brainstorming notes. I can export a list to my mind mapping app easily.
It has easily moved to various new iPads over the years, with all data intact.
Thank you so much for this app.
Great outliner, if you have perfect vision
NEW CAVEAT: There is a setting to make font smaller, but not one to make it larger or even largest. Nowadays my vision won't let me work without a bigger font. Developers need to give more thought to accessibility. -- ORIGINAL REVIEW (5 STARS): OmniOutliner is prettier and offers columns, this outliner lets me get real work done fast. It's easy to make and rearrange an outline, and it works with both email and the developer's free online syncing service. Easy to get data in and out with OPML. I actually use OmniOutliner, too, but for specific purposes involving highly formatted documents I create on my Mac. For serious thinking and outlining on the go, whether on my iPad or iPod, this is what I prefer to use, because it gets out of my way and lets me work. Also let's me organize my outlines with tags, which I can treat like folders. Wishes? Dropbox support would be nice. UPDATE: The addition of Dropbox support has been very helpful. Unfortunately, one must opt for Dropbox support on a file-by-file basis, and the syncing is not automatic. Still, it's pretty easy.
