Whether you're a hobbyist out in the field taking nature photos, an influencer shooting daily videos, or a parent capturing that precious family event, Copy That helps you free up internal storage space while protecting your valuable content.
Choose. Copy. Create.
The process is simple: Connect your iPhone or iPad to an external drive. Select the photo or video you want to copy and how you want to copy it. Then just click the “Copy That” button and you’re done.
Why use Copy That Mobile?
• More room: transferring photos and videos to an external drive frees up space on devices, enabling space for additional apps and OS upgrades
• Extends use life: great for limited storage space on older iOS devices
• Effortless sharing: external drives make it much easier to share files with desktops, laptops, and other users
• Copy Anywhere: transfer files to almost any destination, including attached external storage and even network shares
• Duplicate with ease: once data is copied to external storage, data duplication and backups are easier and faster
Smart, Safe, Fast.
Copy That Mobile includes smart copy functions that streamline the copy process. You can exclude screenshots and selfies and decide what you want to do with existing files. Copy That Mobile puts you in control of your data. These settings are sticky: Once they are set, they become your default settings until you change them. This makes it a breeze to copy files in batches whenever you need.
In-app purchases give additional copy features including:
* Verified copies to make sure your files are safe
* Option to remove original files from your device after the copy is complete.
* Option to filter media to be copied by date
* Options to customize folder organization on the destination disk
How it works:
1. Copy what? Select the photos and video you want to copy.
2. Copy where? Pick your copy destination.
3. Copy how? Choose specific copy options.
4. Press the big, blue “Copy That!” button to start the copy.
You no longer have to click and click to copy photos and videos. Copy That Mobile makes the process quick and easy.

Note: Most external disks will require a separate power supply, although basic thumb drives often work directly.
* If you have an iPhone or iPad with a USB-C port, you can connect directly to external storage with the appropriate cable.
* If your iPhone or iPad has a Lightning port, you’ll need a Lightning-to-USB adapter. Some disks will need a Lightning-to-USB adapter with an additional Lightning port to provide extra power. See owccopythat.com for more information.

I am using CopyThat to copy pictures and movies from my iPhone 15 and my iPad to a USB C flash memory card adapter. It is great to backup photos and allows me to easily copy them to a PC. I like that I can select the date range and can skip existing files. Much easier then trying to connect directly to my PC.
Copy That
Although the application offers a backup of files, it really does not accomplish what it says it can do. During the backing up of files, should Cooy That not find a particular file to backup, the process terminates. What the app should do is @bypass@ that file and present at the end of the backup, a list of all items not found or backed up.
crashes within seconds on new iPad Air running latest ipadOS
Disappointed. I can’t even evaluate this app because I can’t get this app to even run for more than a couple seconds before it hard crashes.
Glitchy app with great features
Loving the design and concept of this app so far. I’ve been successful in backing up a years worth of photos with ease.
I found it worth every penny of the premium price, but find myself feeling frustrated by the number of glitches.
1. The date picker window does not scroll at all, and cuts off the month near the middle. I sort my photos by month of the year, and find myself having to select the 1st of the next month in order to make it work since I cannot select the last day of the month as it is not accessible from the window, and this happens on both iPhone and iPad no matter whether the app is in portrait, landscape, or slide over.
2. The app seems to struggle with backing up photos that are stored in iCloud despite paying for the ability to export photos that are stored in iCloud in the photos library. I find myself having to pull up the photos in the photos app and forcing a download in order for this app to be able to copy it.
3. Crashes. Oh my gosh the number of times this app has crashed in the 3 days I have now been using it is staggering. No idea what triggers it, but it will crash at any point from launching and loading the app to attempting to perform a backup.
Love this app, but it definitely needs some debugging.
Won’t work
Tried to transfer pics off my iPhone to a usb thumb drive. App picks the pics but when I try to choose a destination I get a message saying no documents recently visited. What gives??
Not Happy
Spent 4.5 hours copying photos and a few videos to memory stick only to find that the format of the memory stick had changed and was not recognized by Windows 11 PC. Huge waste of time and $2.99.
Doesn’t work on iPad Pro
Works on iPhone but not on iPad Pro. Also purchased upgrade on iPad Pro and was asked to purchase again on iPhone. I thought the upgrade was a one time purchase.
Simple way to keep a local copy of your photos and videos
App does just as it says. I use my iPad Pro instead of my phone since I can just put a USB C drive in directly. Free version does the job, the small extra one time fee unlocks a few features that are worth the small cost.
The idea here is simplicity. This app is not a full featured backup or copy app. It is a quick and easy way to keep safe local copies of years worth of photos. I don’t trust the cloud alone to keep them for me.
Backup from iOS/iPadOS to SSD
This application worked very well for backing up the pictures/videos that were on my iOS devices to an SSD. I am still using iCloud but you can’t have too many backups incase something happens to your iCloud backup.
