I am on hold for next available for more than 30 minutes and continue waiting…. It is 6 pm CST. It’s operational hours 8am to 8pm CST. A few days ago it announced to tell us to sign out then sign in, it upgrades. I did it and it gets worst operation. I missed the calls by no alert and got call messages later. Still waiting for technical support………………………..
The least good of the three remaining companies
Unlike ZVRS with whom they merged, Purple’s self-certification options acknowledge speech disabled users who qualify to use VRS interpretation services. However, I had the following problems with Purple/Z:
1) Contact photos can only be saved and are only displayed by this mobile app but not the desktop app
2) When hearing callers leave messages through the interpreters, the original audio of the caller’s voice plays through the device speakers unless they are muted (live calls have no audio; only messages). I ported to GlobalVRS where I didn’t have to mute my device speakers just to not be distracted by speech I can’t understand.
3) Automated calls from my area’s emergency public notification system, my pharmacy, and other services NEVER came through the interpreters.
4) Interpreter wait times were the longest with this service, particularly in the evenings and on weekends. This prevented me from verifying my number via phone call for many services.
On a more positive note, I had a helpful account manager both when I was on the Z side and when I returned to Purple when GlobalVRS went outta business in 2023. Sivo also helped me tremendously with some non-signers who wanted video calls with me. I still dial-around from Convo a few times a year to reach those individuals. But my account manager did say I must make minimum one call per month or my account would be closed. So I voluntarily called customer service and had them close it.
There’s a lot of room for improvement though. They really should expand their self- certification options to include ASL-fluent hearing signers without speech disabilities. Global did not exclude the hearies. The FCC allows point-to-point-only VP numbers to be issued to hearing signers. Clearly it’s not an issue of FCC rule compliance.
Need to be updated
I only receive text messages from someone who calls me for calling and hung up for videophone. Not from purple 3 app on iPhone. I have to call them back afterwards every time I receive the hung up text message. Please fix it seriously. I never receive accept or decline screen notifications on purple 3 app. I use this purple 3 for my grooming dog business. Thanks
App crashes iOS 12.5.7
After updating to the latest update, it no longer load. Is there a way to go back to the previous working before?
Amazing!
I absolutely adore Purple. It’s been life changing. I’m late deafened and still learning ASL. The interpreters have always been incredible: friendly, kind, supportive, professional. They also know how to sign well which I know has been an issue with other interpreting services. The app is easy to use and straightforward. I only wish people could call me using the app, but maybe that’s something I need to learn to set up rather than something with the app.
