Nothing works
Paid 4.99 for the Palatine hill guide and it wouldn’t download - even back at the hotel with Wi-Fi it is stuck in an endless pay loop. The free guides are so short and not informative. Don’t bother with this app it is terrible.

Doesn’t work
Downloaded in advance. When i got there the app did not work.
Downloaded everything before going there, it didn’t work
The map only shows the points of interest…the background, which would normally be a map or an aerial view, is completely blank.
Unfortunately, due to the extremely glitchy app and instability of the wifi and signal speeds at the Colosseum, the app will not work in any functioning way. Audio downloads will break before completion and are virtually impossible to reliably restart, and the sloppy loading of the text guide makes it far to disruptive and immersion breaking to use. Tour companies should warn you to download and set all of this up prior to your arrival, as any other method will cause them to break. I’ll be seeking a refund from both my booking company and the app, as even with only slow international travel speeds no other location or event in Rome has caused me similar trouble. I’m off to explore the colosseum on my own.
If you buy an audio guide the app will charge you immediately, but if you internet is too slow or the download gets interrupted, you’re out of luck—very much feels like a vending machine that gets stuck, except there’s no option to hit it a couple of times to get things moving . . .
I’ve seen some strong negative reviews on this app, but maybe they fixed it? I didn’t buy tickets through the app itself, instead downloaded the app after the fact and added my tickets to the app using the confirmation code. It worked great! I did all this over wifi, from my AirBnB in Italy, and the scanning of my tickets and the purchase/download/use of the audio tours went very smoothly. I’d say the content of the audio tours was similar (a little less) than what was on the signs at the Colosseum. The app is worth it to have your tickets handy, since you have to scan them at both the Colosseum and the Forum. Their COVID info was also up to date.
You can save yourself the 6 euros audio guide. This app does it. No stuck issues like the other reviews say.
Clearly designed by someone who very much wants you to NOT visit any sights. When it opens, and it is not guaranteed that it will, the navigation is horrid. Once you figure that out, actually adding something to the cart takes forever. And if you do get something added to your cart, good luck finalizing the purchase. In over an hour of trying I was never able to get a transaction to happen. No tickets, deleting the app. Plenty of stuff to see and do in Rome without having to pay to put up with this sort of frustration.
