The Gameplay
Gameplay is similar to old games like Maniac Mansion, Zac McKraken, Beneath A Steel Sky and Monkey Island, but the game has a unique interface that is optimized for touch. Unlike most other point-and-click adventures the player actually holds the current item in his hand.

The Graphics
All handcrafted pixel art.

The Music
All game music only uses original Commodore C64 SID chip sounds, but polyphonic and with professional effects. The main theme of the Paul Pixel game was composed by the Pixel Lover Orchestra and is called "They Want To Get Us". Other chiptune highlights are "The Awakening" by the underground duo Retro Arcade Boys and "The Giant Meteor" by 8-Bit Factory.

The Story
An average guy called Paul Pixel discovers that the part of the city where he lives was put in quarantine. Apparently there has been a zombie outbreak. He needs to get out...
Of course, a short time later he needs to save the whole earth from this zombie apocalypse.

Paul Pixel Reviews

Loved this!

Wish there were more like this out there, not too difficult but challenging enough to keep you interested with a really great storyline. I liked the graphics, colours and music too. Well done on a great game!

Brilliant! A classic point and click

I played this with my 8 year old, we both absolutely loved it. It is such a throw back from the classic point and click games of the 80s. My boy said it was a great game too. Thanks for making this, we hope to see more!

Was okay

I enjoyed the game to an extent. Very monkey island in feel but just lacked the charm, challenge and humour of some of the old school p&c games

Boring and generic

First off I'm a fan of retro graphics and point and click games, but these graphics are just horrible. The choice of font and colour was a mystifying one too, as it made reading the text pretty hard. Puzzles are obtuse and confusing (which at least is in keeping with the games that this is a homage too), and even though the story is supposed to be silly, the way it plays out and the outcomes of your choices are pretty stupid. Also, the inventory pics need a description when you click on them, as it's easy to forget what something is and the pictures themselves aren't a lot of help! Avoid.

Bugged

Crashes every time I speak to the police officer.

Point and Click returns in 2k

Awesome point and click adventure game with the feeling of roots belonging to Maniac mansion / Zak McKracken. No dead ends from MM though which is a good thing, could do with multiple endings though. Hopefully part 2 will be released soon. If you are after some 8bit retro fun or just wanting to try a point and click adventure for the first time, look no further. 10/10 from me.

Really fun !
