Simple , clean app. Love it.
We are just switching over to Paymo from another major project invoicing app. Paymo has so far over delivered on my expectations. The desktop app and mobile app are everything we were looking for, but failed to find in other apps suitable for a creative design studio. It’s worth spending a little time getting to know your way around the app. The user interface is nice and easy to use. Well worth a tryout.
It’s not as intuitive as other similar apps and the developers have not thought through the user experience. For example, when timing a task there are 2 issues: 1. The project has to be selected every time, it doesn’t default to the last one. (Yet it does on the desktop version). 2. When selecting the task, only the sub task shows, not the task list. If there are sub tasks with the same name (which many of mine are because of what we track) it is impossible to know which task list it belong to!
Improvement ideas: - 15 minute intervals when choosing times - Show current time bar in timesheet like web app - Show unbilled AR in project view
Loved this service until it began requiring small businesses to prove PCI compliance in April. You have to have an information security officer in order to avoid this app’s $35/month PCI non-compliance fee.
I love the app
I truly love the desktop version of Paymo but this app includes almost none of the features that make Paymo worth it. - No time entries except for your own (I manage a full team and am meant to check their time entries daily) - No team scheduling. This is 90% of my job so this is very frustrating - No task or project filtering so you have to scroll through tons of completed tasks to view the ones that still need to be done - Can’t view any task bookings - Can’t view time entries that aren’t your own on tasks - The UI is not well utilized on larger screens. So much more information could be shown in the project tasks overview such as task description and estimated hours similarly to the desktop app. Currently you have to click on tasks for any details These are my primary pain points. This would all be fine if the actual website was available via the browser but it forces you to download the app. In a response to a separate review, the Paymo team mentioned that this isn’t possible due to screen real estate but, if I look at Paymo on a desktop, I can make my window a third of the size of my iPad screen and it still works just fine. Even if it looked janky, I would be so happy to just be able to use the necessary features! As someone that has recently switched to primarily tablet working due to being on the go with work often, I am having to consider other project management softwares that actually allow you to manage projects from other devices. Hopefully I’ll find a workaround because Paymo is great on a desktop.
this app is not advanced enough to replace the browser version of this software - it's a companion at best - and the browser version has been blocked so you can't really access the account settings or any advanced features unless you have regular access to a laptop or desktop that are not an iPad. the ui is pretty lacking too: the views on tablet landscape are stretched out with too much space and thus difficult to look at, buttons are not intuitive and placed in weird places, and changes don't save in the same way that they do on the browser version. without the functionality of the browser version, the app is really not worth the extra hoops I have to jump to get even the simplest of things done. --edit 10/4/21 to respond to developer's question-- developer responded: "the app does not claim to replace the desktop version. do you mind pointing out the specific things you want to do on mobile and can’t?" sure thing. the mobile app's settings only show a toggle for turning on or off push notifications. the settings governing the rest of how the app works are only accessible through the browser version, which is currently blocked from mobile browsers. since I use an iPad for all of my work, that means: - I can't add or modify company details - I can't switch language - I can't add or modify leave days/types - I can't modify any invoicing settings - I can't modify any appearance settings - I can't modify online payments settings - I can't modify tags for expenses - I can't modify email templates - I can't modify project templates - I can't add or modify project status templates - I can't add or modify workflow views I understand that "the app does not claim to replace the desktop version", and I'm not saying it should. I'm just letting other users know that if they don't have regular access to a desktop or laptop, then they won't be able to access settings or any of the advanced paymo features like gantt charts and the like. expanding on the other issues, the kanban view was nice initially but the scrolling isn't smooth, and it's the only view that's been optimized for landscape - the project view, due date view, and priority views are all way too spaced out to the left on landscape and make it difficult to look at them. the app doesn't respond to the keyboard tabs so navigation is awkward and limited. nothing autosaves on the mobile app so if I make a change on a task and then tap the back button, the changes are lost - you have to tap th
Love using Paymo, have been watching from the beginning and enjoyed watching them grow.
I really like and appreciate Paymo. It’s been a low cost way for me to keep track of my self initiated web design samples, and now my paid work. It’s a lot more powerful than I first gave it credit for. Once you use it enough, you realize how complex the software is. It isn’t perfect but really, really good for the price. The only real gripe I have with it is its styling. It has a lot of light grey backgrounds with just darker than medium grey text. The hierarchy gets lost sometimes - nothing a CSS extension won’t fix though. I love it Paymo! Thanks for the great app!!!
