Fine for time tracking but not much else

Nadia Nutgrass on

I truly love the desktop version of Paymo but this app includes almost none of the features that make Paymo worth it. - No time entries except for your own (I manage a full team and am meant to check their time entries daily) - No team scheduling. This is 90% of my job so this is very frustrating - No task or project filtering so you have to scroll through tons of completed tasks to view the ones that still need to be done - Can’t view any task bookings - Can’t view time entries that aren’t your own on tasks - The UI is not well utilized on larger screens. So much more information could be shown in the project tasks overview such as task description and estimated hours similarly to the desktop app. Currently you have to click on tasks for any details These are my primary pain points. This would all be fine if the actual website was available via the browser but it forces you to download the app. In a response to a separate review, the Paymo team mentioned that this isn’t possible due to screen real estate but, if I look at Paymo on a desktop, I can make my window a third of the size of my iPad screen and it still works just fine. Even if it looked janky, I would be so happy to just be able to use the necessary features! As someone that has recently switched to primarily tablet working due to being on the go with work often, I am having to consider other project management softwares that actually allow you to manage projects from other devices. Hopefully I’ll find a workaround because Paymo is great on a desktop.

not there yet - no accessibility for any advanced features/settings via iPad

Cf3o on

this app is not advanced enough to replace the browser version of this software - it's a companion at best - and the browser version has been blocked so you can't really access the account settings or any advanced features unless you have regular access to a laptop or desktop that are not an iPad. the ui is pretty lacking too: the views on tablet landscape are stretched out with too much space and thus difficult to look at, buttons are not intuitive and placed in weird places, and changes don't save in the same way that they do on the browser version. without the functionality of the browser version, the app is really not worth the extra hoops I have to jump to get even the simplest of things done. --edit 10/4/21 to respond to developer's question-- developer responded: "the app does not claim to replace the desktop version. do you mind pointing out the specific things you want to do on mobile and can’t?" sure thing. the mobile app's settings only show a toggle for turning on or off push notifications. the settings governing the rest of how the app works are only accessible through the browser version, which is currently blocked from mobile browsers. since I use an iPad for all of my work, that means: - I can't add or modify company details - I can't switch language - I can't add or modify leave days/types - I can't modify any invoicing settings - I can't modify any appearance settings - I can't modify online payments settings - I can't modify tags for expenses - I can't modify email templates - I can't modify project templates - I can't add or modify project status templates - I can't add or modify workflow views I understand that "the app does not claim to replace the desktop version", and I'm not saying it should. I'm just letting other users know that if they don't have regular access to a desktop or laptop, then they won't be able to access settings or any of the advanced paymo features like gantt charts and the like. expanding on the other issues, the kanban view was nice initially but the scrolling isn't smooth, and it's the only view that's been optimized for landscape - the project view, due date view, and priority views are all way too spaced out to the left on landscape and make it difficult to look at them. the app doesn't respond to the keyboard tabs so navigation is awkward and limited. nothing autosaves on the mobile app so if I make a change on a task and then tap the back button, the changes are lost - you have to tap th

Excellent app and product

Love using Paymo, have been watching from the beginning and enjoyed watching them grow.

Great and affordable

Mar2TheCo on

I really like and appreciate Paymo. It’s been a low cost way for me to keep track of my self initiated web design samples, and now my paid work. It’s a lot more powerful than I first gave it credit for. Once you use it enough, you realize how complex the software is. It isn’t perfect but really, really good for the price. The only real gripe I have with it is its styling. It has a lot of light grey backgrounds with just darker than medium grey text. The hierarchy gets lost sometimes - nothing a CSS extension won’t fix though. I love it Paymo! Thanks for the great app!!!

Improvement but...

motionmack on

This is a huge improvement over the previous app iteration (which was awful) but it still feels kind of useless. Now I can make tasks and add time from my phone but I (like most people who use the service) work on their computer. The web app is still significantly more robust and easier to navigate. So I’m having a hard time coming up with a scenario in which I would use this app over the website 🤷🏻‍♂️

Nice UX improvements

As other user have mentioned looking forward to see invoices and estimates as well. Since I’m on the go a lot, is nice have all these features right at your fingertips. Looking forward to what the Paymo team comes up next.

The solution I was looking for

thisapp is really dumb on

Not only is the customer service top notch, it is the best combination of time tracking and invoicing for the price you pay. Great interface and easy-to-find options for customization. I’d definitely recommend their free trial to check it out for yourself!

Great app, I use this everyday

Meeeeeeeeeee57535 on

I was very happy when Paymo majorly upgraded their app. I use the desktop version to manage all my todos, I would be completely disorganized without it. And now the app has great features to add tasks, track time, and much more. After trying many different time management apps, this has proven to be the best one for me! I can organize my todos, track my time, and create an invoice to bill clients. Thank you Paymo!

Great for the single freelancer

Tiki-Talk on

I’m a freelancer out on my own and tried a number of project management tools for keeping track of time, milestones, and billing. I went through free plans of Freecamp, Asana, Click Up, and a few others. Paymo ended up being my favorite. It has all the features I need and a clean and easy-to-use UI so I can actually get things done without getting lost in the depths of the program. Having the app and website work together, for free: chef’s kiss.

Finally ...

OG Miller Designs on

I provide web design services and I have gone through at least 25 CRMs over the years trying to find the right fit. Some of them didn’t have enough features some had way too many that just didn’t fit and I didn’t feel like I paying for features that I’m not going to use. I also still used other apps (invoicing, email, contact management) to complete other parts of the process. Finally I found Paymo by mistake actually in the App Store and the main thing that’s important to me is mobility. Now I can copy a request from a text message and add it to the system and not skip a beat and also not forget the client text me instead of emailing me so it makes things easier on both of us. I found a lot of systems were great on the web but lacked on mobile the only difference with this one is invoicing but I rarely invoiced on the go anyway. I have sent invoices and estimates easily and got paid within the first three days of using the app it really makes things so much easier for me and the price is great as well and being a single user it doesn’t require me to find 4 other people that I have to pay for just to use the system. It has increased my productivity so much due to the ease of data entry and I’m much happier now that I don’t have to spend loads of time adding stuff and I can really focus on what’s important my design projects. I’ve even created a project for my own business revamp. Oh!! AND I CAN READ THE FONT ON THE MOBILE APP. Not sure why app designers make the font in anything less than 12pt. That was mother major win for me with this app I don’t have to strain to actually complete a task.
