Percussive Arts Society: “The interactive application is very thorough [...]. Navigation is simple and the layout is logical and easy to grasp.”
PercussionTutor will allow you to approach South American, Caribbean and West African music in a different way. This app offers you more than a simple play-along. It includes standard notation, videos and specific claves. We also took the outmost care to capture the natural feeling of all those drumming traditions.
For the batá rhythms we even developed a random playback engine that will simulate an actual batá performance.
This app puts you in a live playing situation - just like you learned your mother language. You will sound more natural and more alive and you will awaken to new rhythmic possibilities. It's also a great tool for other musicians, dancers and performers who want to immerse themselves into centuries-old traditional languages.

PercussionTutor Reviews

Great app found but found a mistake

Hello the sheet music for the clave Tiñosa is incorrect

Time doesn’t line up with metronome….

Time doesn’t line up with metronome…. It is like 2 clicks ahead of metronomes markings, it doesn’t line up with prerecorded midi stuff. This thing is off. Also instruments distort when speed up( moderately) , not good. I only used the plena rhythm , it looks ok when starts but need work with distorting instruments and quantize needs work too. Don’t purchase this.

A must have for anyone interested in rhythm

The ability to solo each instrument or several instruments in an ensemble and play along is priceless. The accompanying videos and sheet music is unbelievable given the low price of the Pro app. I’ve enjoyed it for years and decided I had to write review. This is one of those rare apps where the love of the music and the subject comes thru.

Great app, would be nice to have a limited free version to trial before purchase but worth the €.

Excellent App

This is the best percussion app I’ve seen in the app store. I hope they continue to expand rhythms that include traditional rhythms from Colombia and other South American countries. I really hope you consider Cumbia, Bullerengue, Mapale, Vallenato Rhythms, and Colombian Pacific Rhythms. I know there’s a world of rhythms but why not make a recommendation. Also, the Dominican section could really use a Bachata rhythm. Thank you for an excellent app. I really hope you continue to grow.

Wow.

Amazing and I’m very overwhelmed by the amount of rhythms. I am so glad that I stumbled upon this app. I wonder what future updates will be like.

Truly essential

A rare app that’s so good I literally tell every student and peer they must have it.

Outstanding value

I didn’t hesitate to pay $10 for this app - the batá content alone is worth more to me than that! Would love to see the addition of more West-African dance rhythms. Please keep this going, guys!
