Absolutely useless

Five bars of 4G on my phone and the PitPat tracker will not connect. When it does eventually work, my dog is always shown at least 40 m away from me. This seems to be a pinging tracker i.e. it only works every five or 10 seconds if you’re lucky. this means that if you have a dog who is off lead, you will never be able to accurately pinpoint him with this tracker. We are changing back to tractive, this is absolutely useless and a waste of your time and money, the stress this will put you through when you use it out with your dog is certainly not worth it.

No Demo

Sooteee on

United Kingdom

After downloading all 3 of the main GPS tracking apps, we decided to not get a PP as there was no way to see the app in demo mode prior to purchase. The other apps let you have a look around to see what they offer in the app itself. Unfortunately, PitPat demands you create an account before you can do anything! Given we haven’t bought the tracker yet and the app’s functionality would help us decide, the fact we can’t assess the app without signing up forced us to delete the app and decide to spend our money elsewhere.

I want to support it… but

Julzxxjuliet on

It’s just so hard. I want to track my dog as soon as I realise I need to (normally in a worried state and it needs to be quickly) and it takes forever. Our dog had ran off from a dog walker and it constantly kept saying it couldn’t load the tracker. I was in bits worried and was the only reason why I bought it. You also can’t see where your dog has gone. So really, what’s the point? Can’t see where your dog is straight away and can’t see where he’s been If I hadn’t paid so much, I would scrap it and get another.

Works well for me and my dog.

Not been using it for very long but gives a lot of interesting data easily. I’m not sure if there is a way to synchronise across devices, if there is I’d like to know how but if not perhaps something for the developer to consider. Update: It does sync across my Apple devices. The device became difficult to charge and then shortly afterwards could not lock onto a network. On reporting these problems there were very rapid helpful responses and a new one was sent and it was very easy to install as a replacement. Note there is a feature now where tracks are recorded. Some have had issues with there being in-app purchases but these are not pushed and can be ignored, I didn’t and opted for the ‘Life’ extra. That way points and prizes are awarded; I’ve chosen to use my points to ‘buy’ prizes to be given to a dog charity and to St. Mungo’s. The occasional specials on the good quality dog food from Germany are worth considering; my German Shepherd dog particularly likes the larger sized kibble for adult dogs, even as treats.

Lost 500 day badge

Zero Potentail on

Having tolerated the ups and downs of this app for some time, yesterday (20/8/23) I was one day away from my 500 days of walks, which should have been that day but was 10 minutes short, so I thought don’t worry we can nail that tomorrow. Sadly, even after the update today, somehow the app badge data reverted back to 438 days. So, to say the least, a sense of humour failure ensued. My response to PITPAT, simple, take your star badges and firmly wedge them into each chocolate starfish of your app writers.

No GPS history map and can be slow to use.

Setting aside the four minute phone in times of the tracker, the app itself feels very sluggish. Presumably as it is grabbing data back for your account each screen is slow to load. It feels especially pointless as you can click the button and close the app for it to work in the background, but you might be waiting just as long for the button to appear than it takes to then activate live mode. Also would be nice to see gps history on a map, so can see the squiggly walls my dog does verses my track on human fitness apps.

Absolute rubbish

Bought this to try and help locate our Jack Russel on a farm - it cannot connect and says do you have a clear view of sky when I am in middle of a field - joke if you think this can locate your dog when you would need to most - will be returning and buy something reliable

Really disappointed with this GPS tracker.

pompey1101952 on

Wish I had not bought it. It takes 4-5 minutes to “phone home”. When I check the statistics and leaderboard sometimes it will not load. It NEVER loads at weekends and it says check my WiFi. I am on the fastest possible speed with virgin media. Also tried to load it at both my sons houses and some friends same result every time. I bought this to track my dig if he ever got lost. It’s far too slow. At £149 not worth the money and although it has a sealed rechargeable battery when that gives up the ghost you must buy a new replacement GPS tracker. Not worth the effort

Should be able to pause

When its this hot or in case of illness it would be great to have a pause / skip a day option.
