Wonderful! There is Hope! The tech giants have clearly become too powerful and their leaders endless greed is fuelling inequity. At last with Pixelfed and your future platforms we can do something about it! We can hit them where it hurts while still staying connected, still being creative and still helping each other thrive. I’m part of the professional arts and design community which has become reliant on Instagram to promote our work and share it with our peers even though we are all strong advocates for ethics and positive change. There’s been no other option. Until now. I will be campaigning amongst my peers to switch to Pixelfed. I know it will work, it must! My concern for the platform is funding. For you and for content creators. To keep up with the numbers we need to switch and have a real impact and to encourage those who make money from instagram through ads to switch. I’ve donated to your kickstarter but I imagine long term support is need through monthly subscriptions. Could you build in a Patron style voluntary subscription support model into the app? You could then get consistent support for the app and content creators. Initially just giving voluntary subscription options through the App Stores might be the way for you? Keep up the great work! I’ll do my part! - oh tech issue: I can’t upload a profile photo?

Any chance for a dark mode? It’s disappointing that the main setup screen is in dark mode but the rest of the app isn’t

I am very hopeful for the future of this app! I’ve been looking for an Instagram alternative for a while - I’m hoping that the content moderation here will be much better than Instagram so that vulnerable users will be kept safe. The app is slow at the moment, and the direct messaging feature is bugged so that no chats are appearing despite me both starting one and being told someone tried to message me. Still, as soon as these issues are straightened out I can see this app getting an easy 5 stars

Unlike some other social media platforms, moderation is taken seriously, there’s a great environment with people sharing moments important to them. A social media app that doesn’t stress you out and doesn’t have ads!

Free yourselves! Instagram without the cringe, free from MAGA's grubby clutches. It's early days, it's got some teething problems, but you know what? That's great too because it feels like the early, bright, hopeful days of the internet.

Love that is ad free and community owned but it needs a lot of improvement to make it a real alternative to mainstream apps. Speed and usability among them.

Like the old Instagram days, just photo sharing. No ads. No privacy concerns. Federated and free social media has to be the future.

I’m sorry but this app is terrible. You download it and need to pick a server. It takes a while to upload pics. You can’t write a bio or anything. And it is difficult to open it as an app. Most of the time it has to be opened on Google or safari.

Theres NO ACCOUNT DELETE option. whats that all about? No information in the help centre. Had to google a Forum to find this out. Use at your own risk.
