PocketSmith Sidekick Reviews
Pretty Good Little App
I only wish it could more of the things the desktop application does.
Example 1: When I enter Home Depot in the transaction search box, the app quickly lists all Home Depot transactions but it doesn't give me the total of all transactions it found. The desktop application does.
Example 2: The desktop application allows me to display budgets for any time period. I can pull up This Month, Today, Last Year or any date range I choose. Sidekick only allows me to display the current month.
So, I give the truly awesome Pocketsmith Desktop Application 5+ Stars and Sidekick only gets 3 Stars. I really hope someday the Sidekick Team catches up to the Pocketsmith Team
Not a functional app for Canadians
After paying the ridiculously high price for the subscription, I found out that two major Canadian credit cards that I use will not sync with this app. So it is useless in budgeting and managing my spending.
Two very big oversights
One is there’s no sign in via Google like on the website.
The other one is if you have someone else on your account there’s no way for them to access it via the app (on the website you can start managing an account on your profile).
Finally!!!
I have been using mint from intuit for years because I thought it was the best option out there. It wasn’t, with constant syncing errors and multiple days of lag with transactions it really wasn’t effective in helping me manage spending. PocketSmith has change that! I am now able to flick open my app, see in real time authorized transactions and everything and be able to better make an informed decision as to whether or not I’ve overspent in a particular category or I’m still good to go. I’m so thankful I found this platform, I’ll be using it from here on out, thanks PocketSmith!
Great for multi-currency & budgeting
Finally have a way to manage accounts based around the world in a consolidated way. I’ve tried all the big name wealth and budget apps and none are nearly as functional as this. I really appreciate the focus on function and having auto-categorization that I can setup rules for.
One simple request
The app can be improved by allowing users to set custom periods. I get paid fortnightly so the app is pretty much useless as it only shows me data for a whole month.
That being said, the webpage works really well on a phone browser so I might just stick with that for now until the app gets better.
No login with Google option in mobile app
I can’t use google to login to pocketsmith in the app. Only works for username password logins
Needs a desktop computer for basic functionality
It’s strange that an app called pocketsmith has an app without a usable level of functionality. You need a desktop size computer to access basic features. Needs to at least have the feature set of Toshl on the app. The rest you don’t need to access more than monthly, so that’s fine on desktop.
Also, can’t create a budget for different combinations of expenses. Each individual expense type has its own budget.
Has access to a great range of banks in Australia and has people actively working on the software, so would change in a minute if you could do the basics on the app or even phone sized web.
The website great but the app needs work.
As previously mentioned the website is great but the app needs substantial work if they want to be a contender with any of the larger app developers. Again a lot of the websites functionality is missing here with the app particularly with sorting options, you can’t select individual or multiple banks to view if you are someone who does have multiple accounts this is frustrating. The website also isn’t ideally formatted for Mobile view so you should be using it on a desktop or tablet.
Lacking a lot of features
As a paying PocketSmith user I expect a better mobile app from PocketSmith. This app is very basic and limited.
