Avoid like the plague. Glitchy app, and chargers unreliable and poorly built. Will change them out at first opportunity
Just arrived at a beautiful hotel The Rosevine in Cornwall. We were so pleased the website mentioned there were chargers for guests to use. Arrived and downloaded the app, entered all my data to set up an account, plugged in my car which is only a PHEV which costs about £2.50 for a full charge, and scanned the charger QR code. Then I notice the app stating that I must have a minimum balance of £20 before being able to charge! I'm only here for two nights and don't need to charge my car one of those days. I won't use the balance of approx £17 and have never seen a charger from this company anywhere else to date. No way to obtain a refund of unused balance from what I can see. I duly unplugged my car and didn't bother. Such a shame and something the hotel should take up with the charging company. I hope this review, like most of the other I see on this page, prompt this company to change this ridiculous policy and allow customers to charge as needed and pay as you go. I use the MER charging app often and they only charge for what you use without the need for a top up. I'm really angry about what has just happened and it's typical of the rubbish charging infrastructure this country is implementing for EV car users. No wonder the sale of EV cars is on the decline.
Difficult app signup experience. Seemingly no way to sign up in a browser. Minimum balance of £20 required. Remaining balance appears to have disappeared. Bad service and it reflected poorly on the hotel where it was installed.
Used this system at Trenython Manor in Cornwall. So I had to give a ridiculous amount of data to the app, then preload my account with £30 of credit. Plugged into charge and there was a £5 connection fee - their system kicked me off after 15 minutes. I got 0.7kw in this time. So was charged £5.40 for 0.7kw. Plugged in again, another £5 fee, charged for three hours and was charged £14.44 - gave me 15kw and a total of 32 miles range. Had to move car as went to bed so couldn’t leave connected overnight as you get penalised. Now I look at my account today and balance is £0. So £30 less £5.40 less £14.44 = £0. So I’ve lost another tenner. Therefore £30 got me 32 miles. Bloody expensive this electric lark. Companies like this haven’t got a clue how to please their consumers. What’s wrong with just tapping my chip and pin card and paying for what I use. This is a rip off all the way. If the government want to get people to use electric cars (and I have been trying) then they need to put a stop to this ridiculous way of charging in public. It MUST be made simpler and cheaper. Project EV Pro is not currently the future.
So close this could be the best app for charging and there are so many… why you have to load a wallet is ridiculous and no Apple Pay seens so stupid Also to make matters worse when you go to put in your card details auto fill not available. Had to search for my wallet to get the card number
Please please please stop this process of having to pre-load £20 of credit onto a account in order to start at charge. I’m at a hotel in the middle of nowhere where I have no choice but to spend £20 for a £10 charge and the other £10 will disappear into the ether. Or I have to load another £10 to start the next charger. No other P-EV chargers around me. Nobody is joining this network as a genuine network but more out of necessity at a specific location. Shame as once the money loaded it was one of the quickest apps to communicate with the charger and start charging. In-charge data was some of the best I’ve seen as well. Just set it up to authorise £20 and take whatever payment at the end!!
Doesn’t work and even the operators don’t know how to make it work…
The app is not loading into my phone I have to open all the time from the App Store.
Good app and easy to use. Project EV is probably one of the better supported EV devices and network providers. I find the charging history page very useful.
Disappointed at how little my car charged considering the cost being charged.
