"Turns out, this app offers everything offered in that Berklee class of mine… in an app!"
— Damian E., No Treble
“The Quiztones app is far and away the best app I've purchased. It's an incredible tool for all audio engineers and musicians ... My mixing has improved by leaps and bounds after just a few weeks with Quiztones.”
— Austin M.
“I love this app. Has taken my ability to hear frequencies to heights I never imagined was possible at this point in my career. This app is a game changer. Be consistent with it and it will change the way you hear music.”
— JayAllDay
“This is fantastic. I’m a bit of a workaholic, and blind, audio engineer. This is like the holy grail of an iOS game for me. It’s simultaneously fun and productive. I can play on the go to have better ideas of what I’m hearing on my phone for later correction in Pro Tools, or plug into one of my monitor sets at home to test my instinct... and it’s a game, with categories and scores. Much respect.”

“Trained me up well! This app helped me become MUCH faster with EQ, and helped me know with greater precision what I'm hearing all around .”

Very positive
I love the app and how it is designed to help mixing engineers. Definitely would recommend. Question to the developers: I would love to be able to track my progress, maybe see some basic statistics and tips for improvement. Is this something you are considering to implement in future versions?
Very good
I love the new update. This app has helped me improve my ear for both music production + mixing, & live sound engineering purposes also. It’s proved to be a big help!!!
Very useful
I just got this as I am trying to improve my mixing skills and improve my ear for frequency. It is and will be very handy and I can see the benefit already. I would ask for a couple of improvements which would develop the app further, it would be great to have 2 loops per style just so you don't start memorising the loops and get different styles I.e distorted electric guitar and then a cleaner amp sound to get some variance. Also a couple of male voices in the vocal section would be welcome, a baritone and a normal male vocal.
Room for improvement
The app comes with a good selection of source sounds but it has some frustrating quirks. Firstly the loops it comes with are too short so they get irritating after a few listens. The loops also sound a bit sterile and could do with a bit more ambience. Probably the most annoying issue is the way it only loops a short clip when in music library mode - I'd rather hear the whole tune.
If these issues were fixed it might be a bit easier to use. I've given 3 stars because overall it's a useful app.
Extremely thin on content
As far as apps go, you pay an absolute premium for almost no content whatsoever. Just several bland tone quizzes with no explanation, no context, no learning. No spaced repetition. And it is not fun. Seriously uninspiring. And then you have to pay more for a pro version to have an extension of more uninspiring quizzes which are virtually identical, just harder. Expensive and dull, feel gutted I bought it.
Good, but...
A part the fact you pay 4£ for the app and you need to pay 2.29£ extra if you want the pro version, the app is well done.
Essential for a Sound Engineer
Good ear training software. I like it that it is pocket size. Good value for money for the people who knows how to benefit from it. You dont have to buy the add-on if you do not need it. Master the easy stages before you run
Abusive and offensive customer support
Asked for refund after being asked to pay another £1.99 and received a barrage of confrontational emails from their psychopathic support guy. Bordering on surreal. A very strange way to run a business.
Great app, shame about the costs.
Echoing the comments of BlueSC2, fantastic idea in an app, but a bit of a cheek asking the user to pay more just for 1 additional feature. Would have got 5 stars if they'd been more clear on the pricing or just included the lot in the first place.
Good, but not great
I love the idea, and especially the ability to use my own music collection for the eq quiz. It'd be even better if you could review your old scores and what you got wrong. My one gripe is that full use of the app requires further purchases… it just seems unnecessary and greedy.
