RayRemote transforms your iphone into a virtual remote keypad for Raymarine multifunction displays.
iOS Devices = Best performance achieved on iPhone 3GS or better and iPad 2 or better.
Multi-Functional Display software requirement – v 3.15 or later.
Compatible displays (MFDs) – e, c, ES, Axiom
RayRemote emulates the keypad of Raymarine c-Series and e-Series displays, giving you control of all the MFD functions with large full screen keypad. The virtual uni-controller lets you rotate through menus and make menu adjustments effortlessly. The app also provides a viewing mode, which mirrors the MFD’s display.
To use this app please upgrade your Raymarine c-Series or e-Series Multi-Functional Display to software version 3.15 or later. Software upgrades are available for free at www.raymarine.com/support.
Note - RayRemote will also run on iPad, though it is primarily intended for iPhone.
Getting Started
Download the RayRemote app, and install it on your device. Next, connect to your Multifunction Display via Wi-Fi (see MFD operators manual for Wi-Fi setup details). When the Wi-Fi connection is established, launch the app. You should now see the same image on your mobile device as you do on your MFD. Simply touch the screen and a button will appear to switch to remote control mode.
Note - autopilot activation/deactivation is not possible via a mobile device.

Why build something so bad
How the ergonomics if this app ever got through quality control is amazing. To be unable to see what you are doing with the control panel on the screen you were viewing is a design stuff-up of mega proportions. Did someone really get paid to build this?
Insulting
Having just parted with £1k+ for my mfd I find that the advertised remote app is utterly useless & unusable (see the other reviews) Clearly, cynically designed to push owners into buying another instrument when led to believe an existing tablet would fill the role. Shameful!
Junk
Raymarine chart plotters are great. Top of the line equipment, maybe the best there currently is. I have spent more on their equipment than some people spend on a car. I like their hardware.
And yet they supply with their superb chart plotters this wholly inadequate piece of junk app. It is unusable. It means people like me end up buying multiple Raymarine chart plotters to get the connectivity needed because this app will make you throw your iPad in the sea in frustration.
The app has not been updated (at the time of this review) for three years. That’s inexcusable. The sooner new tech startups get into gear (check out Orca for example) the sooner Raymarine will have to get off their lazy super-profitable backsides and develop usable tablet software.
Shameful Raymarine, shameful.
As useful as a chair with two legs!
Not very!
If you aren't in front of your MFD you could use it to view what's on the screen...
OR
If you are in front of the screen you could use it as a control pad (it's beyond me why you would bother)...
But you can't sensibly use it as a remote version of your MFD - perhaps that is by design.
Bottom line - it's fuseless!
Awful. Worse than useless.
Who allowed this crap to be published? Your phone screen is EITHER a virtual joystick / d-pad OR the displayed content e.g. plotter / radar. Not both. So to move the crosshairs on the say chartplotter you have to switch to a joystick, do it blindfolded & guess where you're moving it, then switch back to see if it did something like what you wanted! ( crying with laughter and frustration at same time ). It's literally not believable that this passed any kind of QA or even a basic common-sense check.
Great
Like the app but would give 5 stars if bellow was added.
I would like to see some basic touch screen function on the viewer screen the touch control on the iphone is very good especially with the added room on iphone5. Or maybe the controls could be overlaid and transparent.
