Nice and easy on battery unlike some others.
Useful for tracking your riding, but that seems to be it. Not as useful for creating routes as my GPS unit or phone. They used to have monthly challenges which were fun, but now they don’t do the monthly ones anymore. I find I rarely use this app anymore.
It’s just kinda almost there. Compared to calimoto, it’s similar in regards to the random ride generator. Which is awesome, but then why not just use calimoto? For general routing, it’s horrible compared to your random choice of GPS navigation apps(Waze, Google, Apple Maps). Interface is clunky. Speedometer updates slowly. It just seems like it’s 15 years old. Maybe it’s just my area (Maryland), but there are virtually no shared routes, so I get no benefit there. More are on calimoto, though they are pretty bad rides so 🤷🏻♂️. Just not enough contribution for a viable crowdsourced product. The biggest issue that keeps me from using this and helping contribute is… it destroys my battery. iOS. 2 weeks ago so maybe one of the last two updates fixed this(but the release notes don’t detail anything so I can’t tell…). I ride with a wireless charger(quad lock) plugged in. Normally I run Calimoto for nav. Waze for alerts, and stream Spotify. Charger is able to keep up and charge. Running just rever, riding in silence, my battery drops a percent every few minutes. Making this unusable.
I have had REVER pro for years and have had problems with it saving my rides consistently. Incidentally it always seems to happen on big rides. The application crashes and the ride is lost forever. Save your money it’s not worth the frustration.
I tried this app on the recommendation of a few podcasts. I was surprised to find how strangely finicky it was for plotting routes and following them. The twisty roads setting just sent me into neighborhoods to hit 4 miles of stop signs. I dislike riding with a phone mount and when the phone is in your pocket and you miss a turn, all it does is a loud annoying beep repeatedly until you want to ride off the road and end it all. After that terrible experience it the. Proceeded to run in the background and kill my phone battery repeatedly for the next 4 days. Thanks for the free trial, I now know this app is a waste of money.
Tries to do too much and does nothing well. Everything is buggy, nothing is reliable. Interface is not intuitive. FAQ section is not helpful. YouTube tutorials are out of date and don’t jibe with the current version. Customer support is absent. I’ve asked questions, I’ve given feedback with details and screenshots, I got no response. $44 for this experience.
Works better for me than Google Maps
A friend referred me to use Rever to help me find paved road rides that were beautiful and fun. In the beginning there weren’t many of that specific type of ride already in the system in my area. However that turned out to be the best thing for me because it inspired me to go on adventures to find and document those rides! Now I’m the one out there discovering where the road is actually paved and where the gravel begins and finding out where the great beginner routes are hiding! I’ve gained tons of confidence in my skills during exploring and I get to share my discoveries in the Community Recommended Rides 🤙🏼
I’ve used this app a few times, it does do a good job tracking your ride except it doesn’t match the speed of the bike, typically it’s 5mph slower than actual mph and after finishing my ride it recorded 4.5 miles less than my actual recorded mileage of my bike. Not sure if this is due to not having the pro version.
