I spent $130 on icom’s remote software for my 9700, only to find out I need to be able to port forward from my remote location. That’s simply impossible from a hotel. I bought this app and had it running in minutes! Simply set your home router to port forward and set static IP address for the radio and you’re golden. I might have to buy a 705 now to add to my remote capability.
Works with Xiegu X6100
Intuitive, feature-rich app. Has been very stable for me, and works fairly well with the Xiegu X6100 as it follows most of the ICOM standards supported by this app.
Great for some iOS-based FT8 (including reporting to PSK Reporter, which is a nice bonus).
Very happy, couple wishes:
I’m very please with the new iPhone app, love the iPad app. It compliments my new ic-705 very well.
Wish I could send an image to the unit (rather than switch to the other app), but that may not be possible.
Also wishing (and hoping) an Apple Watch add on gets release!
Great work!
T-Mobile
SDR control works great remotely using WiFi but won’t work on T-mobile’s cellular network is there any fix
Great for remote operation
Right from the start the iPhone version worked perfectly. It was so intuitive and easy to use, that it took almost no time to get setup and working. To my surprise the reports on ft8 were so much better using this program than others, with no changes made to any of my equipment. I used this for remote operation from Aruba, using both WiFi and 4G cell service. Worked perfectly with no issues or disconnects at all. I had been hesitant after having remote connection issues with other programs. But this worked 100%.
Wow. Just wow!!
Best in class radio controller. This works flawlessly on my ic 7610. I was skeptical at first after trying several other tools. But wow. This one is in a class of its own. Well worth the money and more.
Thank you for this fine software tool. 73.
Works well on ssb. But, lacking on FT8.
Works well on ssb and general RX. But, is lacking on FT8. Better off running remote desktop into pc in the shack and running WSJT-X there. Ive ran this app on iphone, ipad, and a new Macbook M3. Ive found that WSJT-X on pc connected via usb and my ios devices connected via LAN or WAN at the same time there is a huge difference. The app is always decoding the same data 6 to 12db lower than WSJT-X does. Once WSJT gets to -13 to -16 the app is already -21 or lower and missing decodes. Once WSJT-X gets below -16, this app no longer decodes. What was odd was on the Mac version i enabled alerts for a DX call i could see on WSJT-X and the app would alert the sound, but never display it. All filtering was off. Even tried it with filtering. So it appears a coding issue and threshold on when the decodes no longer display. I emailed Marcus and he basically said hes seen the same thing and it is what it is. Appears he has no desire to dig into it. So, if your looking to use it for FT8, dont. I bought a brand new Macbook Pro M3 3 days ago thinking the faster processor may help. But its not processing i can see. Its the levels in the coding of the app. Other than that, app works good. Usually when i have found bugs he has been great at emailing back and working on a fix. This time it appears as if he is saying it is what it is. Kinda disappointed. Guess i shouldnt have bought the mac or the app.
Outstanding Work!!
I have both the iPhone and iPad versions of this application. I have made FT8 contacts in both Access and WiFi modes. My suggestions to users is to read the manual. The time spent will certainly enhance your experience. The author took the time to develop a comprehensive manual that gives you all the information you need to get started and use all of the features. The price spent is well worth the efforts to give us such an excellent tool for our hobby. I would love to see more digital features in the future but I am not a programmer and have no idea how hard that is to do.
Almost perfect
I used this to make my very first contact on FT8 and using it was easy. It is feature rich and I understand not everything is possible on a phone app but there were just a few issues I had. I used this to listen as I tested some vhf antennas from a few miles away and the audio was… odd. It sounded muffled and garbled but I was able to see the waterfall so it still did the job. My second issue was that twice during ft8 usage, the app crashed and left the 705 stuck in transmit. If I was away from the rig, it would have continued until something went pop. Lastly is just a little request. If this was capable of JS8call, I would gladly pay an extra fee. The ability to do keyboard to keyboard on hf from my phone? Revolutionary.
It works well! Best option for iPhone
This software works! Using this for voice contacts via iPhone is far better and more reliable than using an RPI with MFJ’s software or other software such as wfview. With SDR mobile you get a real screen—similar to icom’s remote software. The developer is responsive to questions and feature requests as well. Really deserves 6 stars…
I do find the FT8 interface a bit counterintuitive but aside from that this is clearly the best option for voice ops.
