This is a great app to guide you through this road! 100% recommended! I’d also suggest that you stay at the Wainapanapa State Park and camp there for at least 2 nights to have time to enjoy what the road to Hana as to offer. Most beautiful points are towards the end of the road in my experience. We rented a campervan and sleep at the park for 2 nights with a reservation done 30 days prior . They do not accept last min reservations.
Loved this app!!! Downloaded the loop track last minute on our way to the starting point..well worth it, we enjoyed learning about each place along the way and the insider tips- I only wished we broke the trip down into two days to fill everything in as you really just want to do it all!!

So often see exploitative costs offered by tour companies when all you need is this app. It covers a lot of important stuff including geology-geography, history, economics, culture and language with local music (of good quality) thrown in - all linked to GPS. So nice to travel in the comfort of our car picking and choosing where and when to move without waiting for the interminable loading of buses of unfit overweight travellers. If we could afford a real person this good that would be perhaps better. A must for those who are on a budget or just like a smaller more intimate experience.
Found this app to be most useful. Newbies to Maui so needed help in trip planning. Did the back side of Haleakala and survived 👍🏻. Buy it and try for yourself

Did road to hana and west Maui tour, would have missed some great stops on both without the app! Had some issues with the app disconnecting from CarPlay after every few stops on the RTH tour, could have been a CarPlay issue and not an app issue though, since it was a rental car. Would still recommend!
We used this for our Maui trip and did the tour for the reverse road to Hana, the national park, and to drive around the island in general. Having grown up on Oahu I knew some of the history but hearing it told where it happened and been more in depth was amazing. Add in the perfect GPS coordinated directions and food recipes and we couldn’t have asked for a better trip. Mahalo!
What a great app, it tells you all the history and guides you through the best spots. It’s so worth it you cannot take the road to Hana without this app.
So glad we learned about this app. I feel we would have missed a lot of cool stops in the Road to Hana. One that I would not recommend it the West Maui Coastline. Not too exciting. They did warn us about the narrow roads but it was another level narrow! So much anxiety.
