Shaka Maui Audio Tour Guide

This is a great app to guide you through this road! 100% recommended! I’d also suggest that you stay at the Wainapanapa State Park and camp there for at least 2 nights to have time to enjoy what the road to Hana as to offer. Most beautiful points are towards the end of the road in my experience. We rented a campervan and sleep at the park for 2 nights with a reservation done 30 days prior . They do not accept last min reservations.

Loved this app!!! Downloaded the loop track last minute on our way to the starting point..well worth it, we enjoyed learning about each place along the way and the insider tips- I only wished we broke the trip down into two days to fill everything in as you really just want to do it all!!

Great way to travel the Hana Road with an expert on board to guide you to all the great spots. Music history lesson and humour all thrown in. 5 stars++

So often see exploitative costs offered by tour companies when all you need is this app. It covers a lot of important stuff including geology-geography, history, economics, culture and language with local music (of good quality) thrown in - all linked to GPS. So nice to travel in the comfort of our car picking and choosing where and when to move without waiting for the interminable loading of buses of unfit overweight travellers. If we could afford a real person this good that would be perhaps better. A must for those who are on a budget or just like a smaller more intimate experience.

Found this app to be most useful. Newbies to Maui so needed help in trip planning. Did the back side of Haleakala and survived 👍🏻. Buy it and try for yourself

Road to Hans is long, narrow, with no gps and cellar signal. Without this app, the drive to and back would have been unbearable, let alone impossible. Shaka guide give you the map, driving directions, road stop suggestions and music and stories about Maui along the way. Highly recommended.

Used the Shaka app for the Classic Road to Hana. This was so informative but also in an enjoyably entertaining way! Would have missed so much without it. Highly recommend!!

This app was such a pleasant surprise. We decided last minute to try the road to Hana and figured we could turn around if it wasn’t our cup of tea. We were hoping just to identify a few good stops along the road to Hana, but we spent almost 10 hours totally hooked on the full tour experience! The narrator had us cracking up laughing the whole time, shared interesting Hawaiian history, and also provided such good insight into what each stop entailed, allowing us to decide where we wanted to prioritize. We saw the most beautiful views all along the road and to our own surprise, followed the tour all the way to the seven sacred pools before turning around at 5pm. I would highly recommend this app to anyone who wants to drive the road themselves - gives you all the knowledge you need with the independence to pick and choose what you want to experience most. To me this far surpassed any van tour we could’ve paid hundreds for. We did this on a whim, started at 10:30am and had an incredible, fulfilling and fun day thanks to the classic road to Hana tour!

4 out of 5 stars only bc the narration on the way back was all historical to Hawaii. The info is valuable however on the way to Hana we had to skip a handful of stops to make our 10am reservation to the Black Sand Beach. That was as far as we were going. Would have been great to have an option for stops on the way way back. We kept the narration on the way back but the info on stops (that we missed on the way there) were not discussed. Overall great app. I do recommend doing some research on the stops you definitely want to make before the trip bc not all are must sees for all families. Def recommend app

The ONLY app for taking the most popular trips on Maui! Everything is expertly organized and we felt we wouldn’t have enjoyed both the Road to Hana tour and the sunset drive to the summit with light this app. I thought the time figures were a best guess but both time we were within 30 min of the recommended time for the tours. Even though the narrator and company are local to Hawaii (which makes them even more special) we are hoping they explains to other national parks and popular drives because they are just too perfect! We saw and experienced pieces of each trip I really don’t feel we could have planned with the best effort. Give it a shot and trust the man! He is a local and understands better than any visitor guidebook!
