SilverCloud - “Making Space for Healthy Minds”

SilverCloud provides a wide range of supportive and interactive programmes, tools and tactics for mental and behavioural health issues. These programmes address wellbeing, life balance, time management, communication skills, goal setting, communication and relationship management, anger management, stress management, relaxation and sleep management, among many others.

Tools

A broad variety of interactive tools including mindfulness mediations, breathing and relaxation exercises, review pages, anger management strategies, and many more tools related to content across anxiety, depression, stress, wellbeing and resilience and coping. These tools and tactics empower users to manage mental and behavioural health; as well as incorporating social and supportive elements - providing a human touch associated with face-to-face support.

Content

Silvercloud content is entirely evidence-based and follows best practice in its delivery. Rigorous research has been conducted to identify the most appropriate foundation for this effective and evidence-based content. The approach to the delivery of our content is based on a gold standard of care incorporating high quality content and delivery using best practice user-centred design.

Clinical insight and experience is at the heart of our programmes. Developed with research and content from leaders in their fields.

HealthKit Integration

This app integrates with HealthKit to store time spent in the app as Mindfulness minutes. If you grant access to HealthKit when prompted, all time spent in the app be recorded as mindfulness minutes, and will be available for viewing in Apple’s Health App
The included Apple Watch App also retrieves step count and sleep data to allow you view how your mood may related to sleep and exercise.

Space for Positive Body Image

Space for Positive Body Image is a preventive and practical programme built in conjunction with leading clinical and subject matter experts that provides you with the tools and strategies to build a positive body image, better self-esteem and to develop a healthy relationship with food.

I was genuinely willing to give this app a go, but if anything, it made how I was feeling even worse. To have the state of your health judged by a repeated, woolly-questioned survey is horrendous and the ‘supporter’ really isn’t much support at all. Particularly when you get only one short message every week. I found it all incredibly impersonal, disappointing and at times, quite upsetting. The CBT exercises are fine, but not anything I hadn’t come across before and also not that intuitive in terms of what I should be doing and how often. Very much felt like I was a subject of a tick-box exercise and no more.

Makes me want to kill myself more

I asked for help as I completely don’t understand how their program works. Instead the one who I’m talking to who seems to be robot-ish gaslighted the hell out of me. So this didn’t help at all. No one followed up until maybe if I am dead. Idk

Log in frustration

This app is very frustrating when logging in as keeps asking for the log in details despite having face id enabled. Gets even worse when you see it use the face id after you’ve already logged in with details - really annoying! Please fix.

In a time where anxiety and depression are spiralling, people more than ever need direct human support and contact. It would take an incredible piece of software to emulate this connection effectively and Silvercloud falls so short it actually makes things worse. The UI is horrendous which makes trying to track your progress through the poorly implemented framework clunky and frustrating. The LAST thing people with anxiety and depression need is to feel they need to fight for support and to be left with the feeling they are somehow failing at one more thing after finally asking for help. I reached out in a moment of desperation while trying to cope with full time work, while raising 2 young children, alone and entirely unsupported, after we lost their mother to cancer. I communicated that I was having suicidal thoughts and what do I get? I get a faceless, confusing, second-rate and tedious online course to work through, most of which I can and have found already in better and clearer format with Google. We truly live in a time of broken connections and priorities. Shame on those who think this helps.

A poor website-as-an-app

I’m sure it’s possible to create decent websites masquerading as apps, but this feels like very little effort was spent. Recently the app has started logging me out all the time, which is really annoying.

No help atall

Literally the worst service ever. After receiving a welcome message from my supporter. The next message was to say that they wont be messaging me anymore. They never even asked me anything about me, they were no help whatsoever if anything has made my depression worsen as now i feel i have nobody that will help me. The supporters should be ashamed of themselves

I reached out for help because I’ve been having a horrendous time with my anxiety and I decided it was time I finally got help. I spoke to my doctor and they referred me to SilverCloud. I was actually excited because I thought I would be getting the help I need at last. But no. The modules and tools are ok but it’s things I can find on google and there’s no real work for me to do. I’ve only had 2 “reviews” I wouldn’t even call them reviews because it looks more like a computer generated response. The app claims I have a supporter but I couldn’t even contact my “supporter” in between reviews or anything. I literally read the modules and filled out the tools and I would get useless responses back once a month. If you are in need of proper help I would not use This app. they have completely wasted 2 months of my time.

I wanted therapy, to sort through my personal issues, this definitely doesn’t help with that. The modules are ok but long and too general, I can’t concentrate on them for long enough before I want to give up or skip through it. You basically have to therapise yourself. The feeling questionnaire makes me feel like some sort of experiment and it doesn’t feel personal at all. The supporter (nothing against the person just the way it works as a company) doesn’t really help me and I don’t get opportunities to talk more deeply about my feelings. I don’t like that they call on no caller id as it stresses me out. This definitely doesn’t feel like therapy at all. After waiting for around 3 months for therapy this wasn’t helpful and didn’t feel helpful. I am thinking of looking elsewhere for therapy.

Incredibly basic therapy

Definitely not an alternative to face to face therapy. The app gives basic advice and basic questionnaires to complete. My supporter left unhelpful reviews every two weeks. I gave it two stars because some techniques are okay to use when you’re having a down day but it’s definitely not a long term solution.
