SilverCloud Health Reviews
Decent but not for everyone
The supporters are really nice and helpful, but only being able to send and receive one message a week isn’t very productive.
It’s great if you have absolutely no clue what your doing but maybe isn’t as helpful if you’re already quite emotionally mature or have a mental condition such as autism as it affects the way you process things. It also only deals with the mental side of things, so if the symptoms you’re really struggling with are more physical like pain then it’s not as effective, but can still help ease the weaker symptoms.
Human Connection
I’m reviewing the service itself, rather than the app in particular. I cannot argue that this may work for some and I, myself did find some modules, tools and tips somewhat helpful. My main personal observations were:
- I’m fairly sure the responses from the supporter were auto-generated (possibly some chat bot usage reviewed by a human or at least mostly scripted), based on what modules have been done and rarely (if at all) had interactive questions or anything digging deeper into your responses.
- The whole programme comes across as another to do item, as it’s made clear there is a ‘strict’ attendance policy, and that feels counterintuitive for users suffering with anxiety caused by overworking, for example.
I didn’t use this programme alone, I found other sources in audiobooks and free internet content that was just as, if not more helpful in some areas, but everyone’s mileage will vary. I cannot fault it more than that, I was skeptical going in but overall I think it has helped me to at least have more tools available in the mindful toolbox.
Unusable
Can’t use this as the people speaking are far too “mouth noisy”
My nerves are shot as they are and listening to the mouth noises of these people talking just make me want to go berserk. It’s shocking that this app is so hyped within the app but nowhere else.
I have no trust or patience
Awful, patronising and pointless
I feel so let down by this programme. It is full of videos saying’I was struggling and I did this and now I’m great’. Simplistic questionnaires. A really clunky and co fusing interface so you can’t find anything and don’t know what it is for anyway. Do not put any hope in CBT. This was awful and has made me feel so much worse than I was before.
Awful app, can’t believe my workplace are paying for this
Terrible clunky basic app, little support. I’m going to go on YouTube and watch some videos on supporting anxiety, cbt et.far better than this load of rubbish
Deflating
I was genuinely willing to give this app a go, but if anything, it made how I was feeling even worse. To have the state of your health judged by a repeated, woolly-questioned survey is horrendous and the ‘supporter’ really isn’t much support at all. Particularly when you get only one short message every week. I found it all incredibly impersonal, disappointing and at times, quite upsetting. The CBT exercises are fine, but not anything I hadn’t come across before and also not that intuitive in terms of what I should be doing and how often. Very much felt like I was a subject of a tick-box exercise and no more.
Makes me want to kill myself more
I asked for help as I completely don’t understand how their program works. Instead the one who I’m talking to who seems to be robot-ish gaslighted the hell out of me. So this didn’t help at all. No one followed up until maybe if I am dead. Idk
Log in frustration
This app is very frustrating when logging in as keeps asking for the log in details despite having face id enabled. Gets even worse when you see it use the face id after you’ve already logged in with details - really annoying! Please fix.
Awful
In a time where anxiety and depression are spiralling, people more than ever need direct human support and contact. It would take an incredible piece of software to emulate this connection effectively and Silvercloud falls so short it actually makes things worse. The UI is horrendous which makes trying to track your progress through the poorly implemented framework clunky and frustrating. The LAST thing people with anxiety and depression need is to feel they need to fight for support and to be left with the feeling they are somehow failing at one more thing after finally asking for help. I reached out in a moment of desperation while trying to cope with full time work, while raising 2 young children, alone and entirely unsupported, after we lost their mother to cancer. I communicated that I was having suicidal thoughts and what do I get? I get a faceless, confusing, second-rate and tedious online course to work through, most of which I can and have found already in better and clearer format with Google. We truly live in a time of broken connections and priorities. Shame on those who think this helps.
A poor website-as-an-app
I’m sure it’s possible to create decent websites masquerading as apps, but this feels like very little effort was spent.
Recently the app has started logging me out all the time, which is really annoying.
