Not optimised for my phone, no control of personal details loss of functionality

allthingsemmab on

New Zealand

This app doesn’t optimise for my phone and as I’m unable to update how I access the account - email address or password, I can’t log in on my other device. This means we seem to have a loss of functionality, we don’t know what it’s supposed to be like. We’re stuck using it because I didn’t know it was going to charge me an annual fee. Tried getting in touch with customer service. Their response times are extremely slow for an app that costs so much and their answers are pretty condescending and don’t seem to care. Wouldn’t recommend. Would have preferred Playground Sessions. UPDATE IN RESPONSE to developer: “if you don’t want the free trial to renew…” Since you mention it, I have been in touch and got nothing but patronising replies like this. Thanks for showing viewers how rude the customer service can be 🙃 I had selected a different plan, I made sure to, yet it defaulted to a charge of $280. Quite the difference in what I had selected. You should take a look at the listed pricing and how you charge. It’s quite dishonest. I look forward to getting a response to my last email about the pricing structure. I’m still waiting so don’t expect sending yet another email as you suggest, will speed that up. I have also sent an email previously saying I can’t log into our other device with an email and password. I was told by your people that I can’t log in with an email and password but I agree with you that I SHOULD be able to especially for that price!!!!!!!

My opinion about skoove

A note from Crazygurl on

I gave it a 4 star because advanced is a bit hard and beginners is too easy I’ve played piano before and I still do but bright side skoove is AWESOMEEEEE I’m still doing the 7 day trial today is day 1.

Significant downgrades in function

Peter 832 on

New Zealand

Following updates the app in its current form would never have been editors choice. The update to 2.0 either shows a change of ownership / humans leaving / preparing for ads or all three. To detail a few of the many downgrades Rather than previous focus on learning notes and score reading it is now learning by numbers with the immense distraction of numbers appearing over most notes to show you which finger to use. This isn’t needed as the video of the hands with (less helpful gray rather than blue) lighting the notes below. The score you can see just rolls across and shows few staves - you lose the flow of the music and have no idea of where you are in longer pieces. It previously showed pages with the pages turning as in real life. When playing in time it kept a visual record of which notes were slightly off with a green amber red that you could refer back to. Now it is either red or green as a brief flash no reference. You previously had three practices of sometimes short sections before going on to the next step. It is now limited to one with a lengthy pause, their signature tune, a tick and requiring to click restart. You therefore spend longer waiting for a second practice go than you take to play the practice. Doubtless this lengthy break is to prepare the way for ads and a wonderful ‘free’ app. Whatever you do don’t make the mistake of signing up for a year and finding you have been involuntarily upgraded to a decrepit version after just a few weeks.

The best piano lesson method in the world

I love the clear way to follow the lessons, the steps, videos and the light blue indicator is very nice!

This is sooooo fun and gives me a challenge

Might as well use simply piano

Why are the classical pieces altered so much??? It doesn’t even sound like they’re written in the same key or by the original composer at all..

Great!

It was really fun and made me want to play and practice WAY more than I usually would. My favorite song that I learned was Bella Ciao and my family loved it (especially my Dad because his parents are Italian, and he grew up in Italy). Overall, this app has just been really fun. But the 1 star that I didn’t add was because you can barely play any songs or learn any lessons without getting Skoove Duo. That’s all though! Thank you.

Need Premium to ‘Unlock’ Everything

Valerie_H on

United States

It’s a nice app but once you finish the first lesson, and tried to do the second lesson, it kept asking me to upgrade to premium. Like the only thing you can do without premium is: lesson 1, and 3 songs (for a beginner, intermediate, and advanced).
