Skritter: Write Chinese

This is a great tool for learning Chinese, no matter if you are a beginner or (like in my case) you want to keep up with your Chinese and advance your knowledge! I love the Chinese writing interface to practice your character writing, ensuring you follow the right stroke order. I also love that you can have the option of learning traditional or simplified Chinese, or both. Having lived in Taiwan, I do not want to lose my knowledge of traditional characters. Plus… my friend Fiona, together with her husband and her sister feature in many of the supporting videos, and they are ACE!

I have been using this app for about a month now and I can definitely say that my written Chinese, as well as character recognition has improved a lot.

Should this be your only learning resource? No. Is it THE best resource if you want to improve your vocabulary, and hanzi writing/reading skills? YES. Slick, easy to navigate UI. Many supportive features, the SRS is great. Honestly I have zero complaints. Only a small feature wish list (increasing or decreasing the amount of due cards we can get for example, the rest of my desires are probably over scoped bloat and irrelevant). In all seriousness if you struggle to sit and practice, want to learn on the go, and want to learn writing - get this app before anything else. It is learning made convenient, in a holistic way with no drawbacks for that convenience. I’m broke as hell and still find the cash for it.

Studying Chinese is obviously a challenge, but it’s been so much easier thanks to Srkitter. The User Interface is incredibly easy and the app works so well. Highly recommend

Skritter has always charged a premium for the actual product it provides, but benefitted from the fact that no one else provided any kind of meaningful competition. Since the most recent update, however, the app no longer recognises correct reviews, recycling the same prompts every single day, no matter if they were previously answered correctly or not. This needs to be fixed urgently or we’ll go from Skritter being the only game in town to there being no game in town. If it’s not resolved within the next week, I will end my subscription and revert to a free alternative.

Clearly made by people that care about learning Mandarin. I had been searching for a place to practice my handwriting and the flash card system seems to be the best I’ve seen in my search. Also, I’ve only watched the strange girl so far (animal chengyus vid girl), but she’s really funny to watch too, so the videos are easy to digest. Would definitely recommend the app ☺️

Love the app but it would be even better if it had sentence practice modes. E.g ordering words into sentences, filling gaps. To help learn sentence structures and how to form them.
