Many things missing. Many questions. Wastes hours questing how to do things. Won’t connect no matter the situation. Works great with version 6
Not that great. App seems to love to lock you on alt/az. Tried all the tricks still reverts, oh the scope settings, not. Support “crickets”? The older versions were good this is junk!
Not sure if it was the latest update, but I finally found how to add my Celestron StarSense Explorer DX 130AZ to the app. Haven’t had a chance to use it yet, but I’m happier now.
This app is great! I am not a pro by any means but this app helps me better understand the basics Thank you
30 September 2024: This app use to be my goto; but, now all it does is constantly crash when trying to use it after showing the sky map for 3 to 5 seconds. I can’t do a darned thing with it on my iPad Pro 12.9” Gen 5 with iPadOS 17.7 as well as on an iPad Pro 12.9” Gen 3 with iPadOS 18.1 Beta. It is a huge disappointment ESPECIALLY when I am spending $29.99 / year in subscription cost. I suggest you fix this immediately. Until then, I will not recommend this app to anyone. 14 December 2024: Developer sent email via App Store stating that the crashing issue has been resolved as of Wed 11 Dec 2024; however, the Community notes still says the fix is planned and the App STILL CRASHES if WiFi is still turned on.
Sky Safari Pro does lots of good things. The only issue I have is the somewhat cumbersome method for communicating with Simulation Cirriculum, the producers and maintainers of Sky Safari. You can’t talk to them directly, on.y through the user groups. I find this less than satisfactory. However I have had no issues with Sky Safari operation, only a few data base errors. I do highly recommend Sky Safari for its many good points.
After some recent bugs fixed, it seems to work better now.
Edit: updating to 5 stars as I have no need to use livesky account. I’ve been using this app for about a year now and I think it’s absolutely amazing and love all the info it gives me about various celestial objects. I use it to plan ahead to observe events like Saturn being very close to the moon or Jupiter. It’s my most used featured. Great job on this app everyone. The app worked fine before I linked my livesky account. After signing up for it I am unable to even open the app. It closes immediately after opening it. It’s a shame because I like what this app offers but it is currently rendered useless. I restated my phone but still the app crashes upon opening it. I guess I’ll have to reinstall it and not sign in with my livesky account. I am willing to work with the devs and provide logs if possible so they can fix this bug. Then I will change this review to a 5 star as it would be deserving.
