Do you miss the old "Album Shuffle" on your Apple device? Here at Spudfish Software, we did, so we did something about it!
Smart Shuffle: The Album-Centric Music Player
Smart Shuffle brings album shuffle back to you, randomly shuffling your music and playing it back one album at a time with songs selected in the order that the artist intended. If you love albums, Smart Shuffle is the only music player you need!
Version 3.9 also includes a host of new features to help you further take charge of your album collection!

Smart Shuffle FAQ
Is Smart Shuffle free?
Smart Shuffle is not free (it costs 0.99), however it doesn't contain in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Is Smart Shuffle legit?
🤔 The Smart Shuffle app's quality is mixed. Some users are satisfied, while others report issues. Consider reading individual reviews for more context.
I used to absolutely love this app, even if the interface was clunky. But when I try to filter by playlists it now shows me a bunch of playlists I don’t use but doesn’t recognise ones I’ve recently added to Apple Music. Such a shame because that basically renders this app unusable for me.
Finally!
All I want to do is put a bunch of my favourite albums in a playlist and be able play them in full, randomly. I don’t understand why Apple took album shuffling out of their native player, or why all of the other apps that said they did this didn’t work properly, but this app is intuitive and simplistic and just heckin works. I choose which albums I want to play, from a list I can filter and sort to a substantially precise degree, and it plays them randomly. I can even pick which album to start from. 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
Excellent app
Does a perfect job of addressing the inexplicable gap in apples bog standard music app. I also like the ability to skip to next album, and the album introductions. In this vein, possibly having track introductions may be a possible additional feature.
Thanks chaps!
Now more optimised for large collections
I got this app ages ago but it was unusable, seeming to freeze for ages shuffling my 3000 album collection. Deleted after no response from developer. But I noticed it was updated recently and mentioned fixing performance issues and I’m pleased to find that the app is now usable!
Feature request: naming and switching of filters so I can shuffle classical one day, pop the next.
Great App
This is a cracking wee app. If you like to listen to full albums rather than randomised songs then this is the app for you. This is about the only way you can play your albums in a random order as apple doesn't give you the ability to do so.
Nice little gap filler!
Great app - select which albums you want it to choose from, then hit Shuffle, and it'll queue up a whole heap of albums in Music in a random order. You can then either switch back to the Music app, or stick around in Smart Shuffle for the neat album skip function. No sign of any ads either - thank you!
ios 7 - yay!
Finally, after 2 years, an upgrade to support both an iPhone 5's bigger screen AND iOS 7. I've been using this app since about 2009 on my 3GS, so thank you!
Thank God!
I can't believe I took so long to look for this. I've been waiting for an app like this ever since I bought my iPod Touch.
Mr
Seems to work perfectly!! Nice work, was about to dump my iPod touch in the bin...
Keeps crashing
Love the idea of this app, but it just doesn't work. Keeps wanting to rebuild my library, as if it can't cope with the number of albums. Please fix, as would love this to work...
